Five minutes of hate news

How it is possible that they didn't explode during said attack?
Probably poorly made IED's.
If it is proved it crossed from Mexico, currently led by Claudia Sheinbaum, it might give an incentive to crack down on cartels as well. But then...was any cartel involved or knew about it him? If it was indeed a lone wolf attack, how much Mexican cartel, law enforcement or both knew about him, if anything at all? With all the bullshit that happens daily in Mexico I doubt a caramel-skin-looking dude would be notice. There's often the joke on the net that Latinos and Middle Easterners can't tell each other part until they speak or tell each other's names for a reason.
Ironically, this may make the Cartels crack down on who they're taking across because this is going to directly affect their business.

The last thing they want is the entire attention of the US Three Letter Agencies soley on them.

How it is possible that they didn't explode during said attack?
The depends on two major factors.
First, how competent was the person/group that wired/rigged the bomb, ...
Second, what, exactly, is the bomb?
what is it made from?
the casing?
the explosive?

fuck up the improvised explosive, it either doesn't go boom, or goes boom as you're making it

fuck up the casing, and it becomes a rocket instead of shrapnel.

fuck up the wiring, and it either doesn't go boom, or it goes boom as you're wiring it (or just fucking randomly, because you wired it with a radio detonator on the wrong heavily used frequency.)

The cartels are not that unified on intentions OR organization to do something like that. They are bright enough to not poke the eagle in the north, counting money and logistics, but not bright enough to organize a "manhunt" of potential troublemaker third party, not when said potential troublemaker could be ANYONE.

Even if not a unified front, there are no doubts at least some elements will try to do everything they can not to attract the Three Letters' collective eyes. It's bad for business.

The truck involved apparently crossed the border from Mexico 2 days ago at Eagle Pass. Still no word on the ID of the killer. Supposed photos of the perp appear to be of a middle eastern male, making this likely a jihadi attack.
Truck came over on NOV 16th.

Man, I hope that wasn't some valet just trying to park the thing that got killed by it.

Sure is interesting that these electric vehicles randomly burst into flame, though, isn't it?

Well, I suppose this could have been a bombing. But there have been some other electric cars bursting into flame lately.

Are you fucking kidding me? Are we really going to pretend they haven't been working hand-in-hand with those agencies for decades?

At best they'll just pick a scapegoat to appease the public.

Look that's what makes EV's extra manly, a V12 might look good and feel good, but what's that compared to the frisson of risk that you might get cooked alive by an unextinguishable fire.

Shrimp aren't really a staple either. They rarely make up a large chunk of a population's diet.

They're a treat or a luxury food for most of the world.

Shrimp, crab, and lobster being expensive luxury food is a relatively modern phenomenon— before that they were considered “garbage meat” for the poorest of the poor, and thus a staple of subsistence peasant diets, especially in North America with its plentiful natural supplies.

There's archeological evidence of shrimp harvesting by native tribes in North America as far back as 600 AD, and in ancient China as well.

Three men and a woman were seen on video placing possible explosives around the French Quarter area in New Orleans where an attack took place New Year's Day morning, according to reports. NewsNation security contributor Tracy Walder says the attack is similar to the Boston Marathon bombing, and she's not surprised multiple people are likely involved. Peter Forcelli, a former ATF deputy assistant director, weighs in on how investigators would handle IEDs.

The cybertruck 'explosion' appears to be a deflagration rather than a detonation, and it appears to not involve the battery or the truck itself but rather the fireworks mortars piled in the cargo bed. I've seen an analysis on X which indicates it was likely a poorly built IED that failed due to the fireworks being too loosely piled together.

Any chance you can link it here?

@gral can correct me on this one if I am wrong, BUT... I do recall that last time I was in Brazil (10 years ago) in COASTAL STATES OF BRAZIL shrimp and crabs being fairly inexpensive, especially Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.

Correct. Farther back than that too if we also want to count shellfish like clams and oysters.

That doesn't make shellfish a staple outside of niche communities.

Especially since seafood does not travel or store well.

Hence the 'rarely' in the quote you quoted. And the wishy-washy 'aren't really.' Because even historically, they aren't really for the vast majority of people, but they can be sometimes.

Lobsters are a staple here, when in season, in Belize. On the coasts and out on the islands. But not really when you go inland, even a little bit, except in the big cities.
