A 4.45GPA ain't Forrest Gump. It means "that kid is getting straight A's with maybe one B+" when about half or more of the classes they're enrolled in are honors classes.

The highest GPA my daughers could get when they were HS freshmen was 4.67 if they got an A+ in everything but Gym - which isn't included in the GPA calcs because a kid gets a passing grade just by being there and participating.

It reminds me of how, under our previous government, social workers were able to take a child away from its parents on the grounds... that the family was poor, arguing that in this way the children themselves were harmed if they were brought up in poverty and that the parents could not afford it.

The only instances I can see something like that being legit is if it's in the vein of a Heddah Nussbaum where it's blatantly obvious the spouse in question not only knew about the abuse but did fuck all to stop and ran interference for the abusing spouse.
hmmh but at what point does cowardice become complicity? My mother had munchausens by proxy and my father didn't hesitate to not only yeet that bitch into a fucking funny farm but pulled us out of her clutches the moment he saw anything fishy.
Had he been less of a man, none of his boys would have survived the end of the twentieth century. So I've very little sympathy for men and women who stay quiet while that kind of barbarity happens.
My issue is that a lot of these laws kinda ignore that domestic abusers groom their partners much in the same way trannies (Though to be fair there's an 80% overlap here) and cult leaders groom the vulnerable. And there should probably have been some effort to see if Hogue wasn't battered to the point where her brain broke.
