Let's hope that they will quickly join! This will strengthen NATO's northern front vs. Russia. Just like in World War II, Russia's greatest strength was on its southern front while it was weaker on its northern front. By attacking Ukraine, Russia paved the way for further Nordic NATO expansion.

Sweden's NATO application got FINALLY approved by Turkey. Hungary is the only holdout left.

Sweden cleared the final obstacle to gaining NATO membership in a move that will solidify the alliance’s grip over Northern Europe and the Baltic region.

Hungarian Parliament has now ratified Swedish NATO-application.

Now the only thing left for Hungary to do is for the President to sign the ratification + for Hungary to deposit the ratification to US State Department.

Unironically yes. Whatever else you want to say, IKEA is one of the few large companies that committed to structurally lowering prices again after the Covid-era hike. Practically all companies made the "temporary" price hikes permanent. They didn't. (I know, 'basic decency' is hardly a high bar, but few other big corps even bother to meet that low bar...)

I think IKEA Family membership is free anyway, though.

Finnish language news, but the gist of this is that Hungarian President has now signed the Swedish NATO-ratification.

Steps towards Swedish NATO membership left are:

A) Hungary deposits the ratification to US State Department

B) The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken informs the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that the requirements to invite Sweden to NATO are fulfilled.

C) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg invites Sweden to join NATO.

D) Sweden deposits their Instrument of NATO accession to US State Department becoming the 32nd NATO member.
