Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

You're going to have to cut down even those countries if people stopped dying and making room for new generations.

You'd have to drive birthing to a near halt. You could still have some population growth for a while, but space is going to run out quick.
People won't stop dying; they'll just stop aging. Statistically speaking, considering the number of people who die from either accidents or acts of violence right now, nobody would make it to a thousand. Besides; considering everything that's about to happen, we're probably going to shave off at least a billion from the world population before we have to start worrying about nobody aging anymore.

Were definitely going to get some much more squeaky situations when/if lifespan becomes increasingly an issue of the ability to throw money at it: does just start to wear out from use and accumulate damage and toxins in it, so eventually you likely need transplants. Its going to be steadily more expensive to keep someone alive.

I'm developing a method for cellular entertainment. It'll stop the cells from getting bored and prevent aging.

Shouldn't need any implants.

But that's only if the soulless minions of orthodoxy don't stop me first.

Apperently SoS of GA investigators watched the whole video and NOTHIMG AT ALL WAS OUT IF THE ORDINARY! After all how could someone like him and his team lie?
(Hint: check the voter fraud thread)

If we reach immortality or close to it, we are going to have HUGE problems for the time being. Probably would need to start laws to restrict birthing levels.

Once we can go off planet it won't be a problem.

Until then, over population from billions being born and no one dying, would be an absolute mess.

Contrary to what many people think, the Earth isn't even close to being overcrowded. Most land on Earth isn't even in use for agriculture, much less other things.

Earth can support 50 billion people, easily, and that's before you get into using artificial sunlight and things like hydroponics to build vertically stacked farm complexes.

Overpopulation can eventually become a problem on Earth. But at the rate of technological advancement, we'll have solutions long before it becomes a serious issue, and the sheer economic boons that would come from defeating aging would amplify that effect massively.

So Biden just blew the plan that we all saw coming anyways

I disagree. It is an entirely normal expectation in politics that if any senior member of the Administration, up to and including the Vice President, has a disagreement with the President on a matter of policy that they are unwilling to compromise on, it is their duty to quietly resign. The "price" of being a senior member of the Administration is that you have a hand in policy, but once a decision has been made, it's your job to set aside your disagreement and back it to the best of your abilities, or resign if you feel you cannot do so in good faith.

Biden's saying he would have resigned if he had such a fundamental disagreement with President Obama while being Vice President, and he expects Harris to do the same, because she's Vice President and not President.

Overpopulation in certain specific areas can still happen without the entire planet being overcrowded, though. But you are certainly correct; Earth is nowhere near reaching a point of fundamental population saturation.

I never really got why surrendering to evil is held up as the honorable thing to do. We see Republicans do this all the time. Oh, I disagree, so I'll resign, so that terrible policy can be implemented by the yes men waiting in the wings. Like, what does resigning achieve? Is it just a way to try and save your own skin?

That's not what he said at all. He didn't say Kamala should resign. He literally said he would develop and illness and resign if he and Kamala disagree on something.

He's going to be the president. The president does not resign if the VP disagrees with something.

In what world do you fake an illness and resign if your subordinate disagrees with you?

And you're defending this? You're claiming it's NORMAL for a politician to fake a disease, as an excuse to resign, because they had a disagreement?

Seriously?

Resigning is the expected move because members of the Administration aren't even at-will employees, they "serve at the pleasure of the President".
