This is the thing with Trump that must genuinely frighten some career Swamp creatures. You don't know what the man is doing, whether he's feigning weakness to lull you into a trap, or is blustering to try and provoke. It's why many of us are constantly guessing, and I reckon he does that on purpose to keep his opposition on their feet.

I personally view him as sharing the position of Palpatine in the Prequel Trilogy. Not so much evil manipulator but more (given how those films are written) "a reasonably smart man in a room full of idiots."
