Keep in mind Texas was blue and gradually became red over quite a few decades, only starting to turn back to blue relatively recently. Or am I wrong on that count?

coy or not the fact that it's as close as it is a sad state. It means we're blue. Any other candidate and we'd be blue.

The difference between the senate and presidential votes in Texas is another interesting thing to consider here. Cornyn is in a fairly solid lead compared to Trump. This speaks not so much of Texas turning blue (as much as you think anyway) but that the Trump Derangement Syndrome proved more virulent than expected.
