Most likely China or Iran.
Maybe even Russia but I doubt jf
And most likely not members of those countries but most likely just someone paid enough money

Pinkie promises mean nothing. You don't get to do this sort of stuff and then get away scott-free with "I'm sorry, won't do it again!". Throw the book at these clowns.

The problem is that the "clowns" are at a remove from the actual crimes. Their business model is literally, "Develop ransomware software, but sell it to third parties rather than doing it ourselves."

And between the shortage of supply and how we are all apparently, hoarding and 70's-esque lines at gas stations have started to appear. Americans Are Now Hoarding Gas Instead of Toilet Paper

The group that did the hack seems to have ties or at least sympathies with Russia and the former soviet union because they've refrained from attacking any organization in former Soviet republics.

Goddamn cybercommunists. Seems like the Red Plague is now online as well.

I take it back. The normal America's getting back is Jimmy Carter 2.0.

No thread on this for some reason so... we all know that there was a cyberattack on Colonial Pipeline, Ransomware style and it's caused massive oil and gasoline shortages all along the US East Coast with Gas Stations running out of gasoline and oil and gasoline products having to be shipped in via rail or truck, as well as easing of environmental fuel emission regulation for vehicles.

Well, allegedly the hackers behind this ransomware attack have stated that they are apolitical and not working on behalf of any state or state affiliated group etc stating: "Our goal is to make money, and not creating problems for society."

Much like how Ransomware Hackers vowed not to target health care and hospitals during the Pandemic... seems unlikely that their money making opportunities won't create further 'problems' for society of course.
