Apparently, he is constitutionally incapable of making a sensible suggestion ("An SKS or other semiautomatic carbine is a solid alternative to the standard suggestion of a shotgun for home defense.") without turning into a nutty one ("But you need to tacticool it out with a drum or extended mag and a bipod, like our super clever improvised design here...")

We need a barfie for abominations like this.

BTW is mag even all the way in?
SKS don't use removable mags or at least aren't standard.

A bipod is never a bad choice...if one is going to be doing longer distance shooting with it, or precise full auto fire. As my sections M240 gunner, I am offended by that bipod..

AND WHY IN THE HELL ARE THEY NOT USING MOLLE....like...do these people think tacticool works good for home defense? Sensible works for home defense

Soviet VDV invading the neighbourhood of course. Since army refuses to listen to Combat Reform visionaries, it would take too long for army forces to arrive and thus homeowners must maximize their own firepower, to turn back the Red Tide.
Obviously it is because any Western weapon is inferior to superior Russian weapon making, and therefore the only weapons to fight off the Russian invasion with!
(With the exception that the AR western based weapons are drastically superior)

What dimension of hell spawned this Frankenstein monster?? I mean, I’m guilty of going a bit tacticool with some of my own hardware but that looks something more like some creature spawned from the aftermath of the Twilight 2000 universe (which would make a lot more sense in context actually) than any viable home defense weapon...

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
I will confess I did once buy into the "battleships are still useful and necessary platforms which are totally survivable in a modern combat environment because ARMOR!" lobby, but in my defense I was fourteen at the time.
To be fair if the MK71 8" gun would have been very useful if we had put it into service, even moreso since it would probably be around today albeit probably only on the Zumwalts(which probably would have been a more conventional design if its main guns were already in service which probably would have resulted in a lot more of them being built). Heck the Spruance class was specifically designed with swapping out its forward 5" gun for in mind

At the end of this Century we will have Battleships again. Mostly because tech is being developed that can find Subs. Swat Drones and Fighter Planes out of the sky and Directed Energy weapons are beginning to diversify. There will be battleships. But the armaments will look like something straight out of Star Trek to us.
Unless armor goes full-on Battletech, that won't happen. BBs died because they couldn't match the area of control of aircraft carriers (which is, in effect, stupid huge).

Of course in the Battletech, the last large surface combat ships were driven to extinction via orbital bombardment, which has even larger area of control.
True, but for something on a single planet level, carriers rule over battleships.

And now people are saying carriers are useless because of Hypersonic missiles, and Carrier killer missles

I see it everywhere because of what China is spouting with its new missles.
... and only because they don't know what they're talking about. They don't know that a UV-pulse laser would go through that plasma sheath as it wasn't there, for example.

I am just going off what they are claiming

Yes, the problem is that the "they" you're seeing these claims from are rabid fanboys who assume that every impressive-sounding foreign threat will work as a perfect silver bullet that is magically guaranteed to completely live up to all hype, while flatly ignoring all relevant limitations, countermeasures, and defenses.
