I don't comprehend this map at all. First and foremost, why is the Florida Alliance called that? I mean I doubt people from Tennessee or Arkansas would take any pleasure in that name, The Dixie Union, The South-Eastern Alliance of Independent States (SEAIS) or The Southern-Gulf League would all be much more likely names.
Why is Texas independent if it's got a liberal government? And if a Liberal Texas succeeded purely because the U.S. government became too right wing or dictatorially right then why did the rest of the deep southern states also succeed?
This whole thing screams of typical TV writing without some knowledge on part of the writers of how the world actually works.

Texas could be seperate from Florida if the goal of Florida is to take down the central government and change politics it Texas decided to say fuck the idea of America and then go for independence.
As for California maybe they became full communists and that is too far even for the liberal central government?

The forced "what kind of american are you" memes are already starting. It's so predictable, put this movie out in April so that by summer when the election picks up everyones seen it and then paint the conservative side as the villain, whichever character that is, through a series of increasingly stale and obviously astroturfed memes.
In general, I think the concept of 'safe states' in any hypothetical ACW2 scenario to be a mostly outdated scenario as even if on paper a state professes officially professes a 'side' the advent of the internet means that their will most always be some counter-reaction to such action.
IE: If you live in liberal NYC you can expect sporadic actions in upstate New York by local governments or if you live in a conservative and rural dominated state you can expect urban uprisings by the more liberal cities.
In other words, more of a Spanish or Russian Civil War than anything like the first ACW.

My question is how the fuck did Cali get Idaho and those east to join it, while not having Nevada, Arizona, or NM join. And how the fuck did Utah join Cali.
Though '3 term president' sounds like it will make this into a 'neither side is good, but no one can stay out' type of thing and the 'rebels' don't recognize DC's power.
The Florida/Texas allaince make's more sense.
