This could mean that Xi's power is waning within the party. Evergrand answers to his biggest political rival, if the party is bailing them out then it's because that guy is making a move.
Or maybe they switched sides in exchange for the money.

Part of this is a rant by a Taiwanese commenter about that woman who was chained up and forced to give birth to eight children. Dude does not fuck around, he's an Olympic level scolding mother fucker. At one point the news anchor takes a few steps back because he's so intimidated by how vitriolic this dude is. Absolutely hilarious. Section runs till 11:35

They’ve done this before. That said…the timing is suspect, and likely sending a message. Hardly a productive one, but not surprising.
I heard that the current military intrusion is the largest they've ever sent.

SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA ARE USELESS (AS WE SAW WITH CRIMEA) SANCTION CHINA INSTEAD

Dunnow if the video brings it up, but there's easy 'justification' in the PRC handing-over the US information given them about impending Russian invasion to Russia--Call that evidence of the Sino-Soviet split being no more (along with all the other cooperation Moscow and Beijing have gotten up to), and you can argue the benefits of prying the PRC away from that bloc no longer exist (even if the Soviet part is dead).

Granted, utter pipe dream because kowtowing to the PRC is now a matter of economics by 'the West's' multibillionaires and financial firms rather than a foreign policy tool.
And, I guess, it'd be the bat-signal of Cold War 2: Electric Boogaloo...But we're already in that, one side just refuses to admit it because it'd make the markets tank.

China is apparently pursuing a more cooperative relationship with North Korea due to the "new situation" which China put itself in.

Fox News said:
Xi said that China was ready to work with North Korea to realize the two sides’ "common understanding" and promote friendly and supportive relations under "a new situation," state media outlet KCNA reported Saturday.

*China Reads the Room and Hedges Itself*

Newsweek said:
"China and Russia are comprehensive strategic partners of coordination. China-Russia relations are based on non-alliance, non-confrontation and non-targeting of third countries," ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.

China's position on the Ukraine crisis is "based on the merits of the matter itself," he said, without elaborating. "We always stand on the side of peace and justice." He then reiterated a description of the situation as "complex," refusing to back Kyiv outright.

Beijing's implicit support for Ukraine thus far has come in the form of one oft-repeated phrase: "The sovereignty and territorial integrity of every country should be respected and safeguarded. The aims and principles of the UN Charter should be upheld. This is China's consistent position, and is it a basic norm governing international relations that all countries should subscribe to."
