You know that part of Chinese tradition where a series of natural disasters and unrest signified that the present dynasty had lost the mandate of heaven?

Video summary:
> Video of detained individuals presumed to be Uighurs being loaded onto trains, and presentation of that to the Chinese ambassador by a BBC correspondant Andrew Marr (dismissed by ambassador).
> Commentary by a pastor living under the mainland Chinese government who'd been to reeducation labor camps 3+ times.
> Footage of the 'Golden Lampstand' Church in Shanxi being dynamited by aforementioned government
> Social credit system, including its expansion in 2020 and statement by Lin Junyue--the founder--about its usage of 'big data' to rebuild a moral society--then transitions into brief recounting of facial recognition measures.
> Doctor Lee Wenliang's early publicization of a novel virus in Wuhan and forced retraction.
> Drone enforcement of masking mandates and law
> Police investigation and enforced retractions of social media criticisms of PRC
> PRC mistreatment of Hong Kong protestors

This stuff was getting said, and only recently has the combination of the CCP virus, publicization of Hong Kong's virtual absorption by the CCP, and uncovering of dramatic and flashy cases of espionage and monetary chicanery that all functionally can't be glossed-over by oft-friendly media made for any kind of international reaction proportionate to the violations of international law and human rights that the CCP commits with regularity on their own claimed citizens--notably those in Xinjiang and Tibet--as well as those promised a fifty-year safe harbor in Hong Kong, and, with recent laws, essentially unrestricted to all around the world.
'Free Tibet' was a modest movement as well in the same right vein, until the Chinese Box Office removed most of those with high profiles who could say such thing on international stage, as diplomats by their very nature must give peons to territorial claims.

Whole situation should, if previous such instances didn't, make people notice how much of a self-serving and aggrandizing line of bullshit 'never again' as a sentiment was towards genocide. Just like with Nazi Germany, if the offender is easy enough to work with and offers the right rewards, they'll see plenty of cooperation and, perhaps even better, very limited aggressive opposition for those which see opposing such a state something which is too damaging or dangerous. 'Appeaser' is, once again, a title many politicians the world over deserve on this topic.

The one misstep in the video is not being crystal-clear that the video does not focus on 'China' but the government of the communist bandits on mainland China--a seemingly-minor but noteworthy distinction.

More or less. We needed to keep the markets humming by trading with Red China, you know. At all costs. We convinced ourselves they weren't really communist. We lied and lied to ourselves for as long as we could.

Reminds me of all those years ago when I kept hearing talk about Globalism being great and how China’s the way to the future

Propaganda I heard throughout both Highschool and College

Unfortunately, to them the Chinese aren’t white so they won’t call em Nazi’s unlike the Japanese whom they’d happily shit on

And China doesn’t go do the over top fictional depictions of fascism like Alan Moore and Verhoeven do it

People expect a Hollywood cliche, they don’t get it and they won’t acknowledge what’s going on before them

Hopefully, the CCP loses support worldwide

We convinced ourselves they weren't really communist.

One-party republic or dictatorship easily can be "capitalist", especially in the "mixed economy" sense. Fascist Italy was not communist.

Calling a dictatorship with private corporations "communist" sounds like overuse of the term.

Communism leads to Fascism, after a little “reforms” I guess

The same concerns Vietnam, and yet people tend to like one-party "red" mixed economy Vietnam more. Perhaps because it's not threatening, not big, on the contrary, sounds like an ally against China. And perhaps some Americans are still ashamed about some excesses of the Vietnam War.

Honestly, this sounds more like XXI century Great Game than fight of good against evil. Saudi Arabia or Vietnam nice, China bad? Objectiviely? Naah. American geopolitical interests. Fear of competition.

I'm not at all sure that democratic China would enjoy much better relations with the US.

They call themselves communists so why not oblige them? If it makes you feel better we can say fascist as they certainly meet the criteria.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.

Chinese 'dark fleets' which are whole fleets of fishing vessels that turn off their transponders have basically stripped the Sea of Japan clean of fish. (80% decline in the most targeted species) they've been outright murdering North Korean fishermen who see too much or get in the way. Over 2000 'ghost ships' with dead crews or no crews have washed up on the coast of Japan.

These dark fleets are organised into militias led by CCP officers and are often escorted by PLN vessels.

They're doing the same (minus any too overt killing so far) in the south off the coasts of Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. Chinese vessels basically show up in shifts to relieve eachother, sit on top of a spot to block others using it and if anyone objects they call in ships of the PLN just over the horizon to 'save' them.

We talk about this even in college, China's trying to get a group of islands that had indigenous filipinos on it once...they're also possibly gonna smash our coral reefs with their ships or already have last I checked

And some say the Asian countries are more friendly to China than the US. What if China's been guzzling up the whole world's fish supply?

Our real problem is that our government is for sale, our chamber of commerce cares about this year only and our media is a monopoly or duopoly. The Chinese have money. They are very good at corruption. It's easy for them to buy the press, play local politics and get total scum elected to do their bidding.

I’m mean China and the way people talk about it prove that all that never again stuff from ww2 was bullshit lol in a dark way it’s kinda hilarious the hypocrisy especially with the China camps like why isn’t Israel and the west in general throwing a hissy fit like we know this stuff is real you can’t claim ignorance and have a leg to stand on our technology doesn’t allow it.

Well, there were once islamic acts of terror in China. This is no longer the case.

Now, reeducation camps sounds like an excessive cure for religious fundamentalism, but I can understand somewhat.
