Bloomberg 2020, the (Five) Hundred Million Dollar Man!

Bloomberg is already dead.
His pandering contest to the Jewish vote with Sanders, covered here.

Thread Title Updated from three hundred to five hundred million:

Apparently as of six days ago the Bloomberg campaign topped half a billion dollars in spending or five and a half million a day.

This is according to Bloomberg...

*snigger*

Bloomberg asking if I'm a robot... That's rich.

Older story, but another example of Mike falling short with the Woke crowd in the past. And they never forget.

“If your conversation during a presidential election is about some guy wearing a dress and whether he, she, or it can go to the locker room with their daughter, that’s not a winning formula for most people,” he said.
Bloomberg made a similar remark about a “man wearing a dress” in 2016, but his comments uncovered Tuesday — remarks he made less than a year ago — came amid the early stages of the 2020 Democratic primary.

Bloomberg isn’t really traditionally liberal or conservative. At least not as these terms are defined in the US. He’s an oligarch to whom social policy is only worth discussing so much as it profits him.

So why not go WOKE? All the others are falling for it?

So this is the big day.

The big three are Sanders, Bloomberg and Biden, I think the most likely option is a brokerd convention but at the end of the day 2020 is a poisoned chalice. The democratic party is on the verge of collapse and civil war who ever is in control when that ship goes down gets the blame.

If sanders gets the nomination and loses the socialist wing of the party gets obliterated.

If Biden wins the establishment and business democrats will be turned on at large.

If Bloomberg gets the nomination and loses well some members of the party will get recked and his political career will be over but he's far enough away from various fractions where there is plausible denilability.

I'm hoping for a sanders win and loss though because that ejects the second most toxic element from the democratic party. Any one else and things get even crazier then they have been for the last 4 years.

Time to change the thread prefix... RIP...

And Bloomgerg's out...

That was one good half a billion he spent on a smattering of delegates to drop out in a month after the primaries started. :ROFLMAO: 😆

The most significant accomplishment he made was shitting on Tulsi Gabbard by stealing the half a dozen delegates she would've gotten in American Samoa. 😢

This is kind of great to see. Even ignoring my political distaste for the dude, the strategy of 'don't do anything until Super Tuesday' was, while maybe a rejection of 'retail politics', also somewhat of a low-key way of dodging personal interaction and visibility to voters in ways that the early states DO require because of those same 'retail politics'. And that really should be something politicians are capable of doing--whether it takes the form of the mealy-mouthed say-nothing that most politicians gravitate to or the rambling, often-narcissistic or insulting 'real talk' that Trump built his brand around.

Bloomberg's whole strategy was built off of some kind of stereotypical, mustache-twirling, Scrooge McDuck-style 'I have money!', and while the extent it worked is in some ways still noteworthy and pessimism-promoting...It wasn't enough to let him win any notable amount of delegates--despite hundreds of millions of dollars blasting the airwaves and organizing a campaign, Bloomberg still got spanked by opponents that...were no Ted Kennedy. Because the instant voters got a glimpse of the real dude behind incessant fawning commercials, he couldn't live up to the image (not helped by Elizabeth Warren steering her crashing campaign-plane into a kamikaze attack on the guy--perhaps the only thing positive I have to say about the woman's campaign).

Three cheers for the technocrat subsidizing campaign workers, American television, and ad agencies with gobs of money, though, I suppose.

I honestly thought he would be able to spend his way to a few victories, also suprised and horrified at Bidens comeback because if he loses that's going to make the far left even more psychotic and bitchy.

We all knew this was going to happen. I just made 200 bucks on that bet AND a steak dinner of my choice. I mean, it was so obvious to anyone who has paid attention to the Democratic establishment what they would do. They hate Bernie. They don't see that he could win against Trump. What's more? They're right. He can't. But then, neither can Joe Biden either. But Biden is Establishment. He's been 'their guy' for decades now. But he's about to get a rude wakeup call.

Trump is absolutely going to thrash him. He wont hold back. And the Democratic party, what's left of it, will crumble before the steamroll of Trump.

The smart move for the establishment and business dems would be to let Bernie win, take the L and then use the aftermath to purge the crazies and rebuild the party. Instead they are setting themselves up for a lost and for them to be purged.

I don't see any long term thinking here.

They are scared of losing the Supreme Court for decades. So they need Trump to lose. They can't let Bernie win either, or the crazies would feel vindicated and nearly impossible to get rid of afterwards. So for even a chance of reaching their goal, they need Biden to be the candidate. Otherwise they are in a lose-lose situation in the election.

Also do not overestimate the damage Sanders run and loss would have. UK is a good demonstration. While Corbyn himself has resigned after the epic loss, "Corbynism" is still a powerful influence in the party.
