OK, here's my attempt at a logically consistent timeline of this shitshow:

Step #1. The suicide cultists who want the West to redeem its original sin by destroying itself to destroy Russia and give the nonwest a chance proliferate.

So the more realistic outcome is that the global north burns themselves to cinder while the global south inherit the Earth. I can live with that.

Step #2. Fear of them lets Trump win in 22 with campaign slogans of "we don't care about Ukraine" and "no nuclear apocalypse". Possibly "Russian Hackers" spending a couple thousand dollars on buying facebook ads showing Threads are involved, possibly that's just 4chan up to their usual shenanigans.

Step #3. The cultists become apoplectic with rage at the Evil Russians™ stealing the election for Trump twice. Civil war begins before the 28 election since neither side thinks they can let the other win, the right thinks if the left wins, that they'll retaliate against Russia and start a nuclear war while the left thinks if the right wins, America will be conquered since they're the traitorous agents of a foreign power.

In terms of events in what remains of the US a lot would of course depend on the circumstances. In the event of Trump actually getting elected and the Democrats starting a war over it - which is probably less likely that the alternative - then constitutionally the army would be honour bound to support the elected President so the greater number of probable anti-Trump citizens would probably not decide the issue. Also since it was the Democrats rather than the Republicans causing the split there would probably be a significant proportion of anti-Trump voters who would not support them. At least unless Trump is being even more outrageous than he normally is.

I also think that Democrats would be too smart to try doing anything comparable to January 6 in such a scenario since that would make them look like hypocrites after they portrayed the GOP as criminals and traitors for engaging in and/or supporting January 6.

Trump, Putin, and the Taliban all only respect the might of the fist. Formalities like democracy, the people's will, et cetera are all irrelevant. It's all about power and whoever has the most of it and can best use it is the winner; everyone else are losers.

He called Putin a genius and a great man and the western leaders stupid. Its difficult to see that as opposing the invasion.

There was a meeting of top Republicans a few days back and they almost universally avoided any mention of the invasion.
