Africa American kidnapped in Niger rescued by Seal Team.

Duke Nukem

Hail to the king baby

"Philip Walton, 27, was kidnapped from his backyard in the West African nation after his assailants asked him for money but he only offered $40,

SEAL Team Six carried out the rescue mission and killed all but one of the captors"

"No U.S military personnel were injured during the operation."

They should have accepted the $40.

My only issue is how much the SEALs like to brag about what they did. And how often they are brought up to be the best.

If Delta had done something like this, it would say US military personnel were invovled.
And everyone else on the planet would say the Delta Force did it so the point would be moot. :p

I mean yeah. But at least Delta could keep it secret if they wanted SEALs seem to brag the second they get the chance

Federal Law requires the Seals to do so. Because if they did not. The Green Berets would be forced to do so by Federal Law. Blame Kennedy for the law. :p :p
Is that a publicity thing? Point out the flash at the prestigous unit while the sneaky one does the wetwork with no one noticing because they're distracted?

Nope it is just at thing. People here don't remember (Mostly because 90% of you weren't even born yet) Back during the Late 70s into the 80s everything was Green Berets and Delta Force and I mean everything all over the media. And the Seals were silent in the background. Then from the 90s into the 2000s the Green Berets and Delta Force (With the exception of the Unit Show) faded into the background and the Seals to the fore. It is all about branding. This is how the DOD really gets people to consider certain jobs in the Military. Do you think Topgun and Iron Eagle just came about because Hollywood wanted to make those movies. Nope it is all planned from the very top of the DOD.

Not true. They would just blame the CIA
But everyone already does that silly. :p

Exactly!

Delta is still the best though!

Strange why those military videogames didn't get more spotlight in greenlighting those movies if that were the case.

Delta is known for being more discreet and clandestine, whereas seals are BRING ON THE FUCKIN VIOLENCE BITCHES!

Very different. I'm interested in both. I like to read books about them.

Speaking of that, I HIGHLY recommend Jack Carr's series starting with "The Terminal List." He gets accurate enough with some stuff that US intelligence/DoD censored part of the book.

Good stuff if you like action and decently quick reads.

What's the difference between the spec ops units?
well they're a different branches of the military for starters. Delta is Army and Seals are Navy.

They aren't THAT different really, but One of the big differences is as I mentioned. Delta is more likely to do covert missions. More black ops type of stuff, whereas Seals tend to bring on extreme agression and violence.

There is of course crossover, and each will do plenty of covert black ops and plenty of aggressive violence stuff as well.

Operators of either team are extremely efficient elite soldiers. The teams are more similar than different.

I definitely will look into it. Thanks!

Rangers are the armies SEALs. As most SEAL teams are more like rangers with DEVGRU aka team six being the special forces of the SEALs basically.

Each branch has their own (Marines MARSOC/Force Recon are considered navy though they are Marines). Each has two or three, with navy and Army having the most. Army has Rangers, Berets and Delta, where Navy has SEALs, one other and if including the marines MARSOC/Force Recon.

Each have their own missions and operate in their own ways.

SEALs are themselves varied. you have four Tier 1 units, which three are military one is CIA.

Delta is if you want nothing seen or heard, no survivors and any people that were hostage never know. For instance, two delta members were involved in Black hawk down, and had some of the highest kill counts there. They were also Snipers.

DEVGRU is the Navy version of Delta, but are a little on the louder side.

No idea about the other two really.

Ops for different branches makes sense.

Then that's spec ops branching further into their own specialisations. Special forces expert in a special forces skill the other branch doesn't use.
