The DeSoto would not engage such targets directly of course, it's airwing
Its
The crew did not disappoint, the red beams precise and surgical despite the scale of the weapons they were using. The red beams cut deep into key structural elements melting through supports which had held the station together for centuries.
Which color are the beams again?
I'd just change that to "cutting deep"
“I beat two Drazi to death with one of these tinss in a skirmish on Ettam.

Will be interesting to see the reaction from the Terran's to the unannounced orbital bombardment. Jha'dur is brilliant, but doing stuff like that can backfire hard.
Kinda puts a dent in the whole "we reformed from horrifying moral abominations" if the first joint command ends in a genocide. Also that women is apparently crushing on the faithful second in command of a straight up monster, someone should look into that.

Nice setup for a Minbari Battle of The Line. Branmer's greatest battle. And we have Sinclair tossed into the mix as a bonus.
What's not to like?

I should have expected that really
Yeah, all the right pieces in almost the right place :p

There are a few plot points that need hitting for the set up of the series but in a different way which should create the foundation for the Babylon project. The political map will be very different, but a lot of the character stuff should line up to put the key players in place.

Earth and Minbar though are going to be in very different positions going forward, and that will be the big change for any future project. This whole fic is basically one giant prologue

Not really, Deathwalker could explain away the orbital bombardment pretty easily. During the battle after the destruction of the station, ground based command centers take over, additionally ground based orbital defenses, and airbases. Some of these are in remote areas and others are in major metropolitan areas. She asks for and receives permission from EarthForce to take them out.

She uses lasers and plasma weapons along with a few Rods from God and nukes, to take them out. Unfortunately there is colleratal damage done, but Deathwalker can't be blamed for the Minbari civilian casualties since they were unavoidable.

Or even better, she messes the calculations needed to blow up the giant station Earthforce wants gone and the entire structure falls into an heavily populated region of Mimbar. Millions of deaths without attacking a civilian target, just the kind of technicality she would use to be kept in the human's good side and that not even her current political enemies would be able to find proof of it falsehood.

But happen what happens Hamato will know, and he will not forget, just like he never forgot the way Earth betrayed everyone in the League by signing the ceasefire that ended this version of the Dilgar War.

You know when you say stuff like this it makes me excited for stuff really far in the future right?

Actually that might happen unintentionally, you don't blow up something as big as this station is implied in orbit of a planet without a lot of that crap decaying. I can imagine Deathwalker having an "Oh God!" moment when she realizes that the station didn't come apart like she thought it was and orders her ship to destroy or fragment as many of the pieces as they can. But it will likely be a numbers game, too many fragments created and not enough guns with the range, accuracy, or power needed to neutralize them.

And if the one who screws up is a human or (more easily bribed) Narm unit then the Dilgar can be seen as the heroes who minimized the civilian casualties.

I have a pretty concise plan for an alternate series based on the 'Babylon Prime' timeline JMS was going to do before Sinclair's actor needed to be replaced. Basically keeping Sinclair around, giving Sheridan another role to play, a bigger Shadow war etc.

It is planned, I dunno if I'll ever do it but it is my intention. Be a stupid huge project though and I don't have the free time I had a few years back :p

An AU were Sinclair is the main protagonist sound really interesting. I really hope you can have some free time in the near future to read it, we can wait. but please dont make us wait too long :)

Hey there LC, fancy meeting you here*... ;)

Out of sheer curiosity, seeing as you went with Drakh tech rather then PsiCorps to break Minbari stealth, do you have any plans for the PsiCorps? Will they be outed for having kept quiet their ability to track ships in hyper? Or to look past the stealth and lock on to thoughts of Minbari crews?

* and yes, the SB debacle was nothing short of utter, appalling bullshit, you and the other guys affected have my sympathy. Screw the morons and carry on. ✊

Good to see you around, been a while and I hope all is good your side :)

PsiCorps is something more for the next project I think, beside interrogating prisoners and assisting at negotiations there isn't a huge amount for them to do. In a longer war they'd be great at covert missions and similar, but as this one is going to be pretty short their role is supporting :)

They'll have a big role in the future, though I'm hoping to show some divisions within their group between the jackboots and the regular teeps. In this timeline there will be no President Clark but that doesn't mean there won't be internal threats to Earth. It may be that the Psi Corps is remembered heroically :p

Most of the internal strife Earth had in canon is going to belong to the Minbari this time.

Appreciate the words too, I pretty much always avoided politics but when friends of mine get that sort of shit thrown at them then I'm standing with them. I consider loyalty more valuable than membership of one particular website
