So the party starts tomorrow and ends on Thursday. There are over twenty speakers scheduled including noted Democratic luminaries like John Kasich, Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton! Even AOC has been given a whole sixty seconds to speak which is less then John Kasich and more then she deserves.

Even Andrew Yang has been invited to speak.

No Tulsi Gabbard though.

No Tulsi Gabbard though.

😄

This could work out for the best for her future political ambitions.

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves but if, as is likely I think, Biden loses this one big. Then the Democrats may finally do the re-organising and reforming of their party that they should have done after the last election. Its needed now more than ever and I think someone like Tulsi Gabbard (or Andrew Yang) would be well placed to take an important role in that.

Shit, Kamala Harris's former boss (and lover 😄 ) openly advised her NOT to take the nomination but hold for Attorney General instead. She'd avoid any major hit from a failed Biden bid and if he won it would set her up for a run at the presidency if/when Biden turned out to be a one term deal. But I guess the temptation for the political opportunist in her was too strong.😄

The Republican Party underwent the reform process (overturning the old establishment types and relegating them to the peripheries) when Trump launched a popular frustration driven takeover during the Primaries and then against all predictions from the establishment... actually won. :p It was a good thing for them too because they got to reform whilst in power although it would take an additional reminder in the mid-terms. The Dems going insane and proving all Trumps supporters kind of right helped many change their minds I think.

In any case I don't think Gabbard is that worried about the non-invite, if she has integrity then she wouldn't want to get up on stage and endorse a ticket including Harris in any case.

No such luck. They are already trying to make the election as contentious as possible to deflect the blame again and claim that it's the system that needs to change not them.

Didn't they sort of already try that in 2016? Suffice it to say, I doubt it'll work out for them.

If they don't want to change, splendid! They can fade into political oblivion and a more deserving movement can take their place.

It looks like now FOUR Republicans will be speaking on the first night of the Convention.

Along with John Kasich... Former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, former Hewlett-Packard CEO and Current Quibi CEO Meg Whitman and former NY Congresswoman Susan Molinari will be speaking under the theme "We The People Put Country Over Party."

Christine Whitman was Governor of New Jersey over twenty yeara ago, later became the mismanagimg EPA head under Bush before leaving and whining about Bush and Republicans ever since disappearing into political irrelevancy for over 15 years. Sad. She's pro-choice and self described "radical centrist" who endorsed Kasich in 2016.

Meg Whitman was a senior Advisor to the highly successful 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns of Mitt Romney, endorsed Hilary Clinton in 2016 and in 2008 was dubbed the most likely woman to become President. In 2010 she spent almost 200 million dollars in a failed bid to become California's Governor and her future political career.

Susan Molinari last held office in 1997 before leaving public service to become a reporter for CBS. Four years later she became a lobbyist and most prominently represented Google on Public Policy for several years.

Together these four powerful highly influential and relevant Republicans undoubtedly speak for entire fractions of the less then five percent of Republicans who dont support the Trump Campaign.

Better watch out!

John Kasich
At least I can respect John Kasich, as while I disagree with his politics he at least hasn't backpedaled on his initial position regarding Trump even to his complete detriment and that amongst any type of politician is rare (He isn't really getting any more electable by doing this.)

Here's to a contested convention and a complete political sh*tstorm.

Will Tweedy be in attendance with the Aardvark?
