For all of the news of interest regarding Apple (except maybe those biweekly released iPhones... blargh).

Apple has eschewed Intel for its POWERFUL NEW MACBOOK and other non-touchy touchy computer platforms, in some horrible effort or attempt to capture more of the laptop and PC market of which they thankfully only own 5% of at present.

BBC said:
Apple claimed the M1 can deliver the peak performance of the "latest PC laptop chip" while using just a quarter of the power, or be made to deliver twice the CPU (central processing unit) performance.
But one downside is the Macs now only come with up to 16 gigabytes of memory.
That is half the amount of Ram the Intel-based version of the MacBook Pro offers and one quarter the amount the equivalent Mini goes up to. Video editing software and games are among apps that typically benefit from having more memory.

That's 16 GIBABYTES... with a capital 16!

I can't wait to game on my new MacBook like it's 2010 with the fancy superior new M1 chip created with APPLE SILICON and...

What the hell??!?!

And thus Apple declares itself for the low end market.

System on a chip is nothing new. Low end CPUs have had intigrated graphics since the 90's. The problem is that it doesn't scale up well. A heat bottleneck will never allow a SOC to match a modular system system with far more surface area to transfer heat away from the computronium.

computronium means "A mineral that performs computation". This is a bit more specific that saying the die because there are unused areas on a die as well as areas where it is just wires fanning out to match the socket, these do not produce as much heat as the working material of the microchip.
He's actually just simplifying, kind of the way we might refer to ore as "iron." In reality of course it's a mix of compounds like computronium dicalculide rather than pure computronium.

A grand jury indicted Undersheriff Rick Sung, 48, and Captain James Jensen, 43, for coordinating a bribe with Apple Chief Security Officer Thomas Moyer, 50, to provide the weapons licenses in exchange for iPads. Under the terms of this bribe, Moyer would "donate" 200 iPads worth about $70,000 to the Santa Clara County's Sheriffs Office in exchange for CCW permits.

Along with this, another business owner was charged with bribery as well, offering the two Sheriffs Department employees six thousand dollars worth of luxury box seat tickets to San Jose Sharks Ice Hockey games in exchange for their CCW permit. The Sheriff and some of her family, friends and biggest donors used the suite to host a re-election party.

Typically the various fees for a CCW permit in the State cost between $200-400 dollars.

An internal investigation by Apple cleared Moyer of any wrongdoing.

Yeah, sure, it costs $200-$400 on paper, but California is a May-Issue state. It is entirely up to the sheriff as to whether that paperwork goes through and the permit gets issued. As we see here, the sheriff's signature is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

If you're a rich Hollywood celeb, no problem.
If you're a working single mother who needs a gun to fend off a psychotic babydaddy, you are shit out of luck.

Another week. Another Apple Lawsuit in the EU. Italian regulators have sued Apple for ten million Euros for "aggressive" and "coercive" claims about their iPhones water resistance and stating their advertising claims on it were misleading.

Honestly, if Apple actually promised them that pay and reneged on the deal with no warning, Apple’s probably not gonna survive for too long

Apple has revived its dormant Project Titan and will be planning on releasing an "iCar" by 2024.

It'll enter a field that Tesla is already strong in but that Amazon and Google are also investing in.

Apple lost a lawsuit against a security startup named Corellium that offered "virtual iPhones" to research groups that could be used to find bugs in their software. Florida Judge Rodney Smith threw out Apple's lawsuit which was based on copyright violations for being "puzzling, if not disengenious" due to the fact that Corellium heavily vetted all of its customers and Apple actually made an attempt at purchasing the security company back in 2018 before negotiations fell through. The Judge determined Corelliums operations constituted fair use.

Apple surpasses the milestone of one billion active iPhone users. Apple has an estimated 1.65 billion devices out there in operation in total. This was also the first time the company earned over 100 billion in a single quarter in the companies history.

CEO Tim Cook has revealed that Apple has purchased about a hundred companies over the past six years which averages out to purchasing a new company every three to four weeks.

Which makes sense, as it seems in the Big Tech Sector, purchasing smaller companies is considered a decent substitute for in house innovation.

Apple fined two million dollars in the state of Sao Paulo for selling new iPhone 12's without a charger adapter. Apple stated they did this for environmental reasons, both to reduce the use of rare Earth metals and carbon emissions, arguing most iPhone buyers already had these accessories. Brazil's Consumer Protection Agency, Procon however stated it violated the Consumer Protection Code and issued the fines to the company.
