I never thought I would have reason to thank Donald Trump for personally improving my finances after he left office.
Now I do.
He's just about guaranteed that enough anti-Trumpers will vote against Johnson to push this into next week.

He’s already pushing for money to go to Israel, so he’s not that conservative if he’s allowing US taxpayer dollars to go to foreigners.

I would have been unhappy if I wasn't paid while I was enlisted.
That being said, you'll get all the money coming to you when the govt. gets something passed.
IF there is a pause in payments, make sure you're proactive about talking to any creditors you have to arrange a pause in payments and ask that they figure out a way to not accrue add'l interest if you can makeup the missed payments in a lump sum when you get that back pay.
As for day to day needs, you can see if any local stores are willing to let you buy groceries and other household items (maybe the AAFES commissaries will do this) on a line of credit without interest while this occurs.
I have family who would supplement me until it fixes, but I also can not PCS if the government shuts down

This looks like a classic case of 'make your first move something both parties actually will support.' This can either be canny politics, or selling out, depending on how it is done.

Awesome. So did my grandfathers on both sides of the family. I've got lots of family members, who served in the US Armed Forces including Army National Guard & Air National Guard.
I served in the US Air Force Reserve. My older & younger siblings served in the Marine Corps, Army & Air Force respectively.
