COULD REPUBLICAN PARTY PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION BATTLE POTENTIALLY BE DEADLOCKED?
*Saturday, December 22, 1979: Polling surveys have been all over the place in regards to who'll win the Iowa Caucuses. Political observers think there's a slight possibility that the battle for the Republican Party presidential nomination in 1980 might be deadlocked between former California Governor Ronald Reagan (R) and former CIA Director George HW Bush, which could mean the nomination battle might go all the way to the Republican Party National Convention in Detroit, Michigan.
Other candidates such as former US Treasury Secretary John Connally and United States Senators Howard Baker (R-TN) and Bob Dole (R-KS) will need to have something of a miracle to salvaging their respective campaigns.
