Fanfics. The idea was pretty popular is various fanfics well before 2014.

In my own experience, either the threat the "Plucky Band of Recognized Heroes" was handling was pretty small time, specific to The Force, not something a fleet could help with anyway, or the fleet was explicitly busy handling a DIFFERENT Galactic Threat. Like, sure, it's pretty sad that the EU...

Ah yes... galaxies only ever have ONE threat at a time... yes...

I assume they are using the Disney Canon. Where that's obviously not a thing, since otherwise Starkiller Base would have had interdicter fields built in.

Gonna be honest here... the Yuuzhan Vong War is one of those bits of the EU I tend to consider terribad and ill considered. True, the authors talked with each other. True, the authors were, outside the Yuuzhan Vong War, some of the better ones working with the EU. But, too many cooks ruin the...

Rogue One has issues But at least those are mostly matters of "doesn't quite fit the continuity" rather than "This Story is, in and of itself, shit"

Starkiller Base is the worst part of the Sequel Trilogy. And I don't just say that because it's the first obvious major problem and the thing that turned me off the Sequel Trilogy. Compare the Death Star to Starkiller Base, the first we hear of the Death Star it's Darth Vader having just...

Kreia is right... when the authors agree with her. Because that's the thing about characters pontificating about how the world works in side canon, they are only right when the authors that follow agree with them. But George Lucas almost certainly didn't agree with her, and nor did, frankly...

See... if it isn't... and the Holdo Maneuver is a thing... WTF WAS THE POINT OF THE DEATH STAR?

Until Starkiller Base and the Holdo Maneuver... no they couldn't. Nothing in Star Wars ever actually moves that fast in real space. Maybe they could strap engines to an Asteroid and do some 1g acceleration to do it... buuuuut, given sensor tech that'd probably be intercepted by any planet worth...

The part that needed Han and the Falcon was the timing. Oh, by the way, the shields being a threat while in Hyperspace at all is weird and nonsensical. Again, things in Hyperspace cannot interact with the real world or we're talking FTL collisions and inifnite energy shields. And of course, if...

Doesn't matter. That it's possible at all breaks the setting over it's knee AND contradicts Han showing up to Starkiller Base.

Most things in Star Wars actually aren't flying through space all that fast when not in Hyperspace. You don't even need to start talking c-fractional velocities, some of them are only barely into "would be supersonic in atmosphere". That's very much not a problem you need combat capable...

Again, if true, EVERY TIME ANY SHIP EVER does Hyperspace there should be a blast wave. There isn't.

Star Wars has a history of weird prototype systems... but there's always a specific reason those systems don't proliferate(stealth needs Stygium Crystals which are super rare and limited for example). So since there's apparently nothing here welp, I guess next trilogy is gonna have to be about...

Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

Here's the central problem with the Holdo Manuever. You can do it with an X-Wing, it has shields, and a hyperspace drive and can be piloted by a droid. Guess what that means? No naval battle in Star Wars makes sense anymore because the logical path is Hyperspace Impactors as the only weapons...

A Lot of the EU is garbage is very true. You don't see people talking about how good the garbage parts were though.
