Ethiopia is going full out on building it(it's called "The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam"), and the Blue Nile, which is the branch of the river being dammed, provides about 65% of the water of the Nile River. For one side, it's vital for economic growth(6,450 MW electrical generation capacity), for the other, it's a matter of life and death.
Egypt's future is grim. 100 million people squeezed around the Nile, with no resources to speak of, hostages to the Aswan Dam, and now to this Ethiopian Dam. If Saudi Arabia stops bankrolling their armed forces...
