The War in Afghanistan

So, to make a point. What the later did the former didn't,is one was in uniform. Speaking from his position as a BC, while the former was in civies etc.
That actually matters, as one is against UCMJ policy.... almost like the latter had said. He knew what the risk was doing it in that manner

Pretty sure Vindaman was in dress uniform when he testified, unless this is referring to something else.

Does anyone remember those Syrian rebels the Obama admin funded, trained and supplied that ended up joining ISIS almost instantly after the Battle of Mosul in 2014?

We, the western world, have NO allies in the Middle East, except Israel maybe. Everyone there is only looking out for themselves or their co-religionists (Sunni, Shia, etc.).
There was also the ISIL sweep up through Iraq that had Iraqi army abandon perfectly functional M1A1's, get rid of uniforms, try to flee as civilians, and probably more of them got murdered by the few thousands of terrorists on pickup trucks than they would lose if they fought.

I think the obvious lesson learned here is that most people won't fight for made up countries they don't care about unless forced to, at gunpoint if need be.

Testifying is diffrent from what the Marine LTC did.
Testifying you are supposed to be in dress uniform.
Going and speaking it while in uniform on social media breaks UCMJ. No matter rank

Whereas being called in to testify in dress uniform for remarks made, and then that picturing of you testifying in dress uniform can be reused any time the media talks about you doesn’t.

Okay, say the LTC did break UCMJ. I get that something you care about. Why should the rest of us care?

Still looks like a pretty glaring double-standard to me.
Basically, when testifying, and giving testimony for military related things, one if often requested and or required to show up in uniform. Depends on situation.
Where as, the Marine LTC was doing in his own free will, knowing full well he is not allowed to do it, by UCMJ, and still did it because he felt it needed to be said.

Simple. One had a choice, one probably didnt.
Hell, there are bajillions of servicemembers in fatigues on TikTok- are they all getting discharged?
Is the Marine LTC being discharged? I have only seen he was relieved of his BC position.

Also, because there is a diffrence. How many on tiktok are calling out thier superiors? How many are breaking UCMJ? Mainly because in cases like his, you are saying you represent the entirety of the Marines.

He explains somewhat well WHY he was relieved etc etc

Vindman hid behind the 'not technically in uniform as part of the NSC' bit to protect his ass, and he definitely had a choice about whether to pull the bullshit he did lying about Trump's phone call with Ukraine.

It really seems like enforcement of the USMJ is actually about the politics these days.

Still sounds to me like the leadership of the USMC is failing to live up to the core values.
How?
If they let that officer stay in his command, you are saying you can call any and every person above you incompetent without any consequences...
Did you watch the video?

But, there is a diffrence.
He was testifying.
Not making a social media vid.

This just seems like an argument for the USMJ to be updated; letting incompetence hide behind regs is part of why we are in such sure straights as a nation.

So, when testifying, one should be punished no matter what, if they happen to be in uniform and it is against someone higher?
Because that is how you get that

No, what should happen is that enlisted and officers should be able to call out incompetence in their command chain, in public as a whistleblower, in uniform or not, and if their concerns are legit, they get a promotion for being brave enough to come forward.

No more hiding incompetence or negligence in the command chain behind regs.

So...you want to make it so I can call pit someone in my command, make a claim, spend thousands of dollars of tax payer money to try and figure out if it is true, just because I am petty for a small mistake.

Huh, I wonder why that isn't allowed and why there are other methods we can use.

Uniform matters most. One can do it I public if they have a valid claim without uniform.

You are asking for a slippery slope. In regards that someone should get promoted for being a blue Falcon, and get hated by thier peers.
Or, we keep the way we have and take responsibility for what we do, and know the consequences.
That Marine LTC knew that it is not allowed l, but he knew he had to get the word out.

That is how it works.

'How it works' IS NO LONGER WORKING, and is in fact being used to make sure no one in DC is going to be forced out, held legally accountable, or even demoted over this.

The USMJ seems more and more like an excuse to hide behind when military Right wingers are afraid to do what the military Left does, and get lauded as hero's for.

Maybe if more Right wing people put the truth and our Constitution above their own military careers, the Left wouldn't feel they can get away with shit they know the Right will not be able to.

Is it not obvious considering the counter-example of Vindman?

If they let that officer stay in his command, you are saying you can call any and every person above you incompetent without any consequences...
I am saying that the man was right and that his superiors lack integrity, are putting themselves before their service, and are definitely not living up to "excellence in all we do." This man is correct in his criticisms and they are just butthurt about it. He is also showing through his actions that he is living up to the core values while they fail to.

Did you watch the video?
Yes.

Dead journo.
The guy was killed two months ago and his body handed over a few days later yet the article claims that the state of his corpse has been only discovered now?

Okay.
So basically get the right wingerd basically kicked out and let the left take full control.
Gotcha.

What you are asking for is what the left would like in the military.
Say something not PC? Well, you get called out and then that person gets promoted for being "Brave" and "Daring" while the high ranking person gets demoted or even fired.
You just made some SJW blue Falcon who would never get promoted any other way, into a position of responsibility
Congrats

Yes.
Did you watch more then just the LTC?
The youtuber puts it into reason why he got relived of his command.
