I think we can blame part of that on Borsk Fey'lya's unabashed desire for power and glory; dude straight up tried to undermine Ackbar during the Thrawn Crisis for what amounts to a bit of political advantage in the NR High Council.

Also on Mon Mothma's desire to restore the Republic to it's former glory, without her really thinking too hard about why it was in a position to fall in the first place.

The most long lasting and successful govs in the galaxy were those that only tried to control a limited territory close to their homeworld's/main economic hubs. Hapes, the Chiss, the Hutts, the Bothans; all had limited teritory, but withstood a lot of the chaos that was endemic in the rest of the galaxy.
Ironically Star Trek Online figured out how to do a large scale quasi nation right. The Alliance comprised of the Klingon Empire, The Federation, The Romulan Republic, Cardassia and the Dominion. Each has a separate government to handle regional affairs but the Military is one big centralized unit comprising members from all factions. Best of Both Worlds.

No offense but is the whole star wars universe stupid? how did these blaitent death cultist manage to get into power? I'm half expecting these imperial moffs to start going "hail Satan."

The Force is one Helluva Drug. No really Sideous literally used the force to not only blind people to his real Sith status. But also got them to go along with it when he clearly was standing in the Senate chamber in full Sith robes.

Whelp there goes Kamino. That was a great episode. And Crosshair is just a Darksider plain and simple.

eh, clone madness was always one of those weird aspects of the EU that did not hold water under greater scrutiny given that clones are essentially just identical twins that are grown in a test tube as opposed to a womb. Clone Wars also already kind of decanonized the whole "double presence in the force" thing. Yoda when pep talking his clones mentions how even though they are clones they all have their own unique aura in the force

IIRC the flash-growing thing was also an issue.

Well this season of the Bad Batch is over. And I must say I absolutely loved this season. Even the cameo by not Godzilla in the Season Finale. Looking forward to Season 2.

There is one question that needs to be answered. What is the upper level of Wreckers strength? We know from the Clone Wars he was strong enough to not only prevent himself from being crushed by a Droid Army walker. But was able to throw it off balance. The freaking ground cracked under Wrecker's feet when he did that. I say Wrecker maybe as strong as 616 Spiderman if not stronger.

So why the scene at the end actually matters.

That mountain in the ending seems like it is a place we know.

Mount Tantiss

Bad Batch's finale just got a lot more interesting.

Yaaaay. Another Star Wars Legends Classic Disney and Faloni is going to mutilate.

Would you prefer KK be back in charge of Lucasfilm and botch things even more, rather than give any shits about the old EU and it's value to the fanbase?

Honestly? Yes, because at least then we wouldn’t be getting bad remakes of Legends material. As KK seems to think she doesn’t need to appease the ‘old’ fans or use Legends material. And KK is still the one running the show from what I know; she’s just not front and center anymore.

Filoni and Fav are the ones effectively in charge now; KK's contract as head of Lucasfilm is not being renewed and she has effectively no control over Star Wars anymore.

And so what if they are remaking Legends material and the old EU stuff; better than a whole bunch of new locations and/or plots pulled out of thin air.

As well, this neatly explains how there ended up being a cloning complex in Mount Tantiss to begin with, even if it changes some details about it.

We already knew why there was a cloning complex in Mount Tantiss. It was a warehouse for technology and stuff the Emperor wanted to keep backups of and so on.

And I'd prefer that the Legends and Disney Wars timelines would be kept as separate as possible; trying to make them similar is like trying to polish a turd. Plus it just makes things confusing when it comes to continuities.

Yes, why, not how.

Now we see how Tantiss came to be as it was, or at least the closest we've ever seen. And having it as a training/growing facility for elite troops during the rise of the Empire is makes more since than having it be isolated and forgotten by everyone but Palp and Thrawn for years on end.

This isn't polishing a turd, this is Filoni and Fav trying to set things up to effectively erase the sequel trilogy using the 'World Between Worlds' from Rebels to show how alt timelines can exist in Star Wars.

Fact is it sounds like their is a plan for an live-action Ahsoka trilogy in the future, the Rogue Squadron movie, and bunches of shows.

Filoni and Fav are going to try to reconcile the old EU with the new Canon, and so far they aren't doing a bad job of it. Trying to keep them old EU and the new canon completely separate is pointless, and only give KK what she wanted. What Filoni and Fav are doing is effectively undoing and rewriting canon to erase those horrible films.

You missing the point; Mount Tantiss isn’t supposed to be a heavily fortified military base, it’s supposed to be a top secret warehouse, more or less.

Mount Tantiss was originally the site of an Old Republic fort that was reactivated by Palpatine during the Clone Wars.[2] The storehouse contained both objects and trinkets of unspeakable evil, as well as mementos from the conquests of the Empire. His most private treasures were hidden in a massive labyrinth designed by Garrbo V'Droz in the mountain's bottom chamber.

I’ll believe that rumor when I see it and not a moment before. Fact of the matter is, even with damage control being run, it’s a loosing battle. Because episodes 7-9 are going to loom far more in the public consciousness then some spin off films, even if those do get made.

Frankly, I don’t trust Filoni to do it right. Even if shoving his super-special OC in and making her the savior of the galaxy sounds in character for him. I still haven’t forgiven him for the mess TCW made of the Clone Wars timeline. And putting that aside, unless Ashoka is going back centuries, it wouldn’t explain the pre-OT era divergences and so on.

Only way I’d accept it is if Ashoka manages to undo Palpatine’s meddling...but at the cost of removing herself from the timeline, thus moving the TCW stuff into the Disney Wars canon, replacing it with the pre-TCW lore.

Now, it they want to rewrite the Vong War and everything that came after it from Legends, so long as they don’t screw it up, it’s fine by me.

What if they discovered the entire Sequel Trilogy timeline was a Vong plot to weaken the Galaxy for invasion. And the World Between Worlds shows this.
