you have to remember that California's fincial situation is terminally fucked now. In 2 years the mass retirement of boomers hits and the state realizes that we cant possibly pay for their retirement on top of all our other stuff and social programs. If the homless people of the state die in droves from a plague that saves the state billions of dollars and its 'techically' not their fault.
If your looking face down a fincial cliff are you going to spend money and resources saving people who are already a massive fincial burden or are you going to 'make hard but nessary choices' and let them die in mass saving you billions?
Like I said the political will to save them simply is not there.

The social distancing is annoying but the building blocks of civilization are all still working fine. People have access to food and shelter and stuff.
Might be getting stressed out but I think we are a far ways off from any societal breakdowns or anything.

It's so far been happening in parts of the country a good distance from where I live.
Part of the problem, going by what I pick up from local social media, is the government's ban on the sale or transport of anything alcoholic during the period of the "lockdown".
Some people really miss their booze.
