China Wuhan Virus Pandemic

Yeah he really was.

Because this is an open and shut 1st amendment issue, about peoples religious faith.
That it's not a 9:0 is a fucking disgrace.
Most of the dissenting opinions were because the churches in question were no longer in red/orange zones.

To quote Justice Roberts.
I would not grant injunctive relief under the present circumstances. There is simply no need to do so. After the Diocese and Agudath Israel filed their applications, the Governor revised the designations of the affected areas. None of the houses of worship identified in the applications is now subject to any fixed numerical restrictions. At these locations, the applicants can hold services with up to 50% of capacity, which is at least as favorable as the relief they currently seek.

Numerical capacity limits of 10 and 25 people, depending on the applicable zone, do seem unduly restrictive. And it may well be that such restrictions violate the Free Exercise Clause. It is not necessary, however, for us to rule on that serious and difficult question at this time. The Governor might reinstate the restrictions. But he also might not.And it is a significant matter to override determinations made by public health officials concerning what is necessary for public safety in the midst of a deadly pandemic. If the Governor does reinstate the numerical restrictions the applicants can return to this Court, and we could act quickly on their renewed applications. As things nowstand, however, the applicants have not demonstrated their entitlement to “the extraordinary remedy of injunction.”
Not because there wasn't a first amendment issue.

Meanwhile in Vermont the governor has decided that in order to check if people got together to party he's going to ask kids to snitch on their parents:

Now aside from the extremely questionable nature of asking kids to become informants there's also the unintended problem of "the kids can and likely will just lie in either direction". Because you just know that if word gets out that kids will be able to skip school and stay at home for a week if they lie that half the student body will have mysteriously all gone to large parties and be unable to attend for a week.

You have to wonder all of the knock on effects of these quarantines and lockdowns in all of the random ways it affects every state in the Union that barely gets reported. Stuff buried in local stories that never rises to national prominence unless it makes 'Orange Man Bad.'

Meanwhile ...

Meanwhile in a link from that very article...

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.

It's like a bio weapon effect. Few infections and it's time to run for the hills.

China was likely hit a lot harder then they let on to the rest of the world.

So it's no surprise they over-react like that.

You know as orewellian as that is I am little amused more people aren't tweeting that all kids have to do to get out of school for a few weeks is basically say they had a fun Thanksgiving. Their parents can't even blame them.

Even in prison you can still rob the state of gibs because they're idiots.

Forget being idiots, it's quite literally having the people in charge of handing out benefits being so uncaring that receiving a request for benefits from "John Doe" and "poopy britches" didn't raise questions of any variety from the clerks inputting the data or the people who approve the money being given out.

Like I can't even blame the prisoners for defrauding the state because the state clearly doesn't seem to give a damn if it gets stolen from.
