They better hope the Central Europeans are willing to work with them in regards to electronics then. As for metalurgy, maybe work with Russians since they are closer.

With how racist Woodrow Wilson was, combined with the fact a large percentage of troops in Afghanistan are black and female, there's going to be some serious problems back home. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if many just kept themselves in the military or committed suicide later on.

Another outcome of all these uptime Anericans coming back is all the historical knowledge they carry, as well as political and social views deemed radical by the standards of the late teens. Many Americans will not like the direction America will take by the end of the century, especially in regards to civil rights. Many might have a disdain for what becomes know as Wilsonian Intervention, which will drag America into countless wars if historical hindsight isn't used properly. I wonder how this will play on America's isolationist attitude.
