Who else dreads this year?

Soldiers will obey their commanders unless ordered to turn on their families. Which they won’t be.

Putting faith in the virtue of the military strikes me as the dream of fools.

... Of course they would. You have a ridiculously positive opinion of soldiers as some sort of uber loyal (loyal to what anyways?) people. The flag is a flag. People change their allegiance all the time. See, the 180 done by so many Europeans post WW1.

Soldiers are normal people who will go with the flow of what they are told to do, and what those around them do.
It is almost like I am a soldier.
A guy I work with is getting out after some bad experience in the Army. He still says if the nation is under attack he will join again to defend it.
We arnt World war 1 anymore, or vietnam. Soldiers that often have it the worst are those that put faith not in each other, but in the major cities they reside in.
Every service member took an oath to defend said flag from threats foriegn and domestic. Those that turn against it even after they get out are throwing thier friends and brothers under the bus for the same people that are causing them to end up like you see in all those videos
We have better conditioning these days, but in general it is probably true that many servicemen would be swayed by politics of their families and friends.
That is true, but soldiers often tend to go thier own way even compared to thier family thanks to thier experiences in the military

Virtue in the military is why we are brothers and sisters in arms

I hate to speak poorly of the service, I have relatives who served after all. At the same time, the service is an institution. And can be corrupted Ike any institution.

John McCain, Duckworth, and quite a few other people of poor moral character have been in the service.

Soldier=\saint

This is the same military that embraced transgenderism and doesn’t understand that BLM is an anti American movement.

There is a disconnect and always has been between the bulk of the enlisted and the minority that are officers

Okay. So they will just obey whoever claims to represent the flag? Once the communists control what the flag means, then they'll be good, proper communists?

Not to hold anything against soldiers. 90% of people will do as their told. Maybe soldiers might even be twice as likely to resist, so only 80% will do as their told.

Its what it is. As Lord Invictus said, soldiers aren't saints, and its irrational to expect them to be.

But, fear we might soon reach a point where the morality of the soldier might be measured in their willingness to burn the flag, once it's meaning has been thoroughly corrupted.

Its going to be much easier to chamge what the flag means, rather than to change the flag.

What I am getting at is this.

The flag will always stand for one thing, the American way of life and the freedoms in which it entails. THat is what every Soldier fights for. Every soldier swears an oath too. If someone tries to change the meaning of the flag, I will take up arms against them, with the flag I fought for with me. I will, as will most soldiers, fight to protect the people ad the constitution from both foreign and domestic threats. If any soldier claims otherwise, they joined for the wrong reasons.

Well, good thing is, as you said before even the ones supporting BLM don't approve of the riots and preferred it when they were just shouting and marching around.

I doubt ANY of them are actually FOR this sort of weird insanity that more moderate lefties deny or ignore or somehow forget occur

Sheer unawareness of the VERY out-in-the-open-barely-hid crazy is something that can be cured

Though me and people in my section disagree with certain things, we all agree the riots and attacks and burning things is not the way. Peaceful protests are perfectly fine.

And that Desmond Napoles' parents need to be arrested and the kid needs therapy before its too late

I think seeing the other crazies popping up alongside these riots helps open peoples eyes.....followed up with a need for bleach to be directly inserted into their brains

The guy who shit Kennedy was a retired Marine. I don't believe the service is as incorruptible as your saying.
I am not saying they are.
Obama had eight years to insert his preferred officers into the military. It must be remembered that an institution is nothing more than a collection of fallible men. I have no faith that our whole army would side with the constitution should the worst come. Some would certainly. But not all.
I am not saying all would, just that most would.

THat is what every Soldier fights for.
Most soldiers in wars don't really fight because they believe in something greater, they fight because they are told so and for the guys next to them in the firing line.

If someone tries to change the meaning of the flag, I will take up arms against them, with the flag I fought for with me. I will, as will most soldiers, fight to protect the people ad the constitution from both foreign and domestic threats.
Most soldiers won't get all philosophical on what is right or wrong, they will simply follow the orders coming down the chain of command. And Joint Chiefs of Staff reminded Trump quite openly that their loyalty is not with the office of the POTUS but their fellow swamp critters.

If any soldier claims otherwise, they joined for the wrong reasons.
Most soldiers join for paycheck. Of course there is some fluctuation, significant portion of soldiers are indeed full of motardation after their initial training but get disillusioned by the service during their four years.

So secret service shot someone. That's all the info I can find so far. Everything is under control now.

I saw a quick video of the shot person on the ground.
