I can understand not paying attention to other countries. They are generally weird and kinda bad. Communist ones more then most. Communism outside of hippy communes has a terrible tendency to oppress their LGBTQAIP2+ community. Very sad.

Actually, Stalin, Che Guevara, and Fidel Castro were anti-LGBT. As one Paul Gottfried put it, they were to the right of even the most extreme right Republicans on the gay question.

Castro responded to the aids crisis by locking up the people with aids, so fucking up during the aids thing was some thing both the left and right did.


In fact most countries fucked up during the crisis because we arrogantly thought that we had figured out the cure to all of the STDs and were about to figure everything else out. Aids was this global curve ball that fucked up everything. Did Regan fuck up Aids hell yes, were the religious right wrong about aids?

Are you kidding? Of course they did back then there were huge amounts of people in the movement who didn't belive in evolution you think their going to understand epidemics? Aids wasnt just an american fuck up it was a global fuck. We are in fact still grappling with the lessons of the event and still trying to figure out how to cure the disease.
