But it's what someone comparable to the Joker would take advantage of. The character would give the news media what they want and more. He'd tell people to not only sign up to them, he'd sponsor them as his favorite news outlets and describe what he likes about the staff's behaviours before Batman puts him away again. That sort of publicity would be bad for them wouldn't it?
Just think absolute sickos staging all manners of heinous behaviour and then telling people on video to support someone. Subscribe/support/vote/buy to/from someone/sponsor/group.
