I don't think that the Edwardians would wipe out the megafauna. Hunt for trophies, doubtlessly, but no settlement. Too far for no gain, with so much free clay nearer.
Well,they would probably keep small forces to keep any natives away,and escort for scientists working on animals there - i bet,that many british biologists would love to see giant birds or lemures.

2.Yes,England alone would eventually rule over world - and,since they really belived in science,they would go to space.
Gave them 2123 years,and in our times they would probable fight bad tentacle monsters molesting noble british maidens on some alien planet.;)
