I can see Disney budgets ballooning simply because of how many unions and special interests are involved. You have to pay the assistant, assistant director a living wage and aren't allowed to ask the lighting engineers to help fix the camera plugs because of union rules. Compare this to an AA production where the writers are doubling as the boom operators and at least one of the actors is the sound engineer.

The mostly likely scenario, in my opinion, is that they overpaid for substandard work/materials produced by certain companies, that someone in a position to make the decisions has a personal connection to/stake in. It's something that seems to be prevalent in woke productions.
What happened was simple.

Since Cultural Marxists are Marxists first and anything else a VERY distant second they cannot create or even maintain an existing property. This is why they have ruined franchise after franchise: they take it over, and all it becomes is a means of pushing leftist propaganda, which is why you see race and "gender" switching so often as well.
But it has run rampant. Hollywood used to be a money-making machine (in fact it has sent many millions to Israel over the years), but now Hollywood is dying. That source of wealth has been poisoned. This includes Disney.
If what happened back in the early 1980s is any indication, back when it seemed WW3 with the former Soviet Union was a very real threat indeed, then expect a sudden return to the basics and tradition- or an attempt. Things had not gone as far as they have now back then. But I will not be fooled- the industry has shown its true colors and its contempt for me. There will be no reconciliation, and that includes Disney.

This is in spite of the lead being only paid $50,000 an episode?
This is in spite of the writers whining about being paid less than $400 in residuals?
This is in spite of the show basically being a legal sitcom with nine twenty five minute episodes?

I even said She-Hulk was better than Loki in part because I thought the latter had an obviously bigger budget. That might not be true... LooooooooL
She-Hulk was so cheap. It was like a Sitcom... where did all of the money go? I read (and posted) that She-Hulk was plagued by lots of issues in production but I can't imagine the costs ballooning so much. I was shocked when Secret Invasion turned out to cost $200 million dollars to make. But She-Hulk? It looks like it has way lower production values.
She-Hulk in the comics was a good character- it had humor, action, and the protagonist was genuinely sympathetic and likable. But the television series did what many a super villain failed to do: it brought her down.

Basically, they're using mealy-mouthing to admit that "get woke, go broke" has crashed their company.

What is happening is simple- first sort of admit the people they have been calling racists sexists anti-Semites homophobes cis-gendered transphobes might maybe perhaps have a point. Their attitudes and hatred has not changed, but they will fake it. The strike was actually an opportunity to get rid of failures who have cost the mainstream entertainment industry billions- and maybe make people think things are changing.
Then there will be a seeming effort to stop with the wokism, hoping people will forget what has been happening for years and years and- and this is key- start spending millions and millions again to fill their increasingly empty coffers. Again, the people behind it hate you still, but they will try to fake stepping back. Classic Saul Alinsky.

I've been on this mudball of a planet for over half a century. I have seen standards go down, and down, and down. This was all the result of that Saul Alinsky tactic. It does work, or do you think this dystopian woke society happened just out of the blue?
Thing is, we are now at the point where schools have litterboxes for kids who "identify" as cats, teach that yes there are 76 different "genders" (the biological term is "sex," "gender" refers to languages like Spanish), movies are money-losing woke propaganda pieces, "trans-people" are not regarded as insane...oh, it worked, it worked.
Problem is, where do we go from here? That is the problem with pushing and pushing, finally where do YOU go? Push someone off a cliff then the only thing left, if you want to keep going, is to walk over that edge yourself. Feminists are furious that they are now taking a back seat to "trans-women," but I will never stop reminding them that it is the game THEY signed up for, and it is zero-sum.
I'll be blunt- the only place left to go is normalizing pedophilia. The day that happens we need a killer asteroid ten times the size of the one that was supposed to have wiped out the dinosaurs- or a supernova.
The rise in "antisemitism" the media whines about is simply because people have realized that not saying anything against the demographic disproportionately responsible for leftism is no longer an option. Backing off and cowering has NEVER worked, it has only gotten worse. I can literally apply for a job, be told by "diversity" behind a desk "we don't want no white men here," and find no help anywhere, least of all from groups like the SPLC. Look at the comments "diversity" in Hollywood has made against whites, white straight men in particular, and ask yourself where any other demographic is opposing it- nowhere. The silence is deafening. Why, then, should I care about any of them? They have shown their true colors, what they think of me.

As for the rest, that tactic tends to fail because there's really no plan for what happens if the enemy (ie us) decides to pursue them after retreat. They basically only tend to win when the liberals are in power and are trying to work WITH them. When the right wing actually pushes back, you get Socialist power collapsing under Reagan and Thatcher or the destruction of Nazi Germany.
While the whole litter box thing was a hoax, the fact that people believed it to be realistically possible in this day and age is an indication of how bad things have gotten, like he said.
