Culture Welcome to Dismal Disney.

Apparently Disney is planning on making a LIVE ACTION remake of the classic animated film Moana. Despite the passage of time since the release of that immortalized film, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Auliʻi Cravalho (who portrayed Princess Moana) will apparently star in this film.

Keep in mind the actual animated film was released only seven f'ing years ago and now they are already making a remake.

After sinking with Black Adam The Rock is ready to milk another passion project dry to fund his steroid habit massive ego or whatever... I dunno.

If anything they should remake shitty films, like The Last Jedi or Raya and The Last Dragon or maybe give Mulan another try. :sneaky:
This reeks of desperation as much as a thirty-five year old single mother does on a dating app.

Depends on WHY she is single. Her husband is dead? Might be a god thing. Divorced Feminist? Person non grata.
Unfortunately, the result is often the same regardless of the cause, though if she lost her husband because of an accident, war, or fled an abusive marriage/relationship, they have my empathy in these cases.

Dating a single mother is like playing someone else's saved game file, with the difficulty set to nightmare. Don't do it.

However, in my post I was referring to women who had "oopsie babies" or tried to lock down a Chad or Tyrone which backfired -- you know, Cock Carousel Riders.

You should be abole to make a general exception for widows.
That's a negatory: you'd still be raising someone else's kid, and all the problems therein would still apply.

I have empathy for widows because the reason for their being single mothers is different, but the effects on a man looking to date her would still be the same.

Dating single mothers, regardless of why they're single mothers (through no fault of their own or because they were 304s), is a bad idea.

True Disney Fans are angry that the young actress who is to portray the native Hawaiian woman Nani in the (sighs) live action remake of Lilo & Stitch is a case of whitewashing. Nani is the older sister of Lilo.

As you can see actress Sydney Elizabeth Agudong is apparently far lighter then the animated character she is playing. Also Nani is supposed to be a native Hawaiian while Sydney Agudong is merely a Filipino-American who lives in Hawaii. Fans angry over the apparent colorism have taken to Sydney Agudong's Instagram page to mock and annoy her, but sadly for them, her account hasn't been updated in over a year.

Ethnic Hawaiians aren't even as dark as the girl from the animated film. Seems to me that Disney took artistic liberties to show that the girls were both non-white and quite sun-tanned.

20th Century Fox, which is owned by Disney, is apparently releasing a remake of the beloved 1992 sports comedy White Men Can't Jump which originally starred Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson and was a big success at the time, making over three times its budget on theatrical release. It also received a lot of critical acclaim.

Well it's 2023 now and despite no one asking for it, Disney is apparently remaking the film. Only this time with a fraction of the budget, a director whose previous experience is music videos and commercials, and replacing big name talent (especially at the time) in the form of Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes with... 🧐 a White rapper from Louisville, Kentucky named Jack Harlow whose making his acting debut and some actor named Sinqua Walls who, as I check over his filmography... Oh he starred in Friday Night Lights thirteen years ago.

No doubt this remake will honor and cherish the original while building its own creative story upon its foundation or else why the fuck would they be bothering with making a remake of such a good film?

Oh almost forgot, here's a trailer.

Wow... that is definitely... a movie trailer.

White Man Can't Jump, the 2023 remake, will be releasing straight to streaming on Hulu... because Hulu needs original content for goodness sake until Disney can try and convince Comcast to either buy them out or buy out Comcast so they can merge Hulu with Disney Plus to offset the drop in Disney Plus subscribers and general burnout from crappy Star Wars/Disney content. 😭

Ok, let's be real, some of that was pretty good. I'm sure it'll be a mediocre movie overall, and not live up to the original, but...

"You assumed I can't hoop because I'm a white dude."

"No, I assumed you can't hoop because you look like a white girl at whole foods."
...Okay, to be fair that's a good zing.

Disney's live action remake of Little Mermaid might become a $100 million dollar flop.

Apparently combined with a dismal domestic forecast in America for its box office, it's apparently not forecasted as doing very good in Asian markets, including China for some unknown and mysterious reason.

In it's opening three day weekend in China, the movie made less then three million dollars. In all markets it grossed just over $185 million dollars over the four day Memorial Weekend. That combined total barely surpassed 2019's Aladdin's domestic box office on its three day opening weekend (not accounting for inflation).
