I can think of another reason why A I may not be liked.... OK, it comes down to demonic possession. How hard would it be for a warp demon to possess a computer that is self aware? I mean demons possess vehicles so how hard would it be for one to possess a computer?
Daemons remain an army with an interesting concept for a backstory, which GW flatly refuses to develop. Specifically, lorewise they're supposed to be ascended chaos worshipers, whereas tabletopwise, they all seem to either lack origin stories or be ascended chaos space marines. Where's the creativity? It seems to be easier as the "soul" of an AI appears to be less guarded. One example I can think at the top of the head of, is the AI of the STC Castigator Titan. It was slowly corrupted into becoming a daemon, but there're circumstances that might've forced it to become warp, such as a thousand-year long stay in the warp along with the planet it was hidden on.
A nurglite who fell unintentionally. A particularity corrupt and incompetent imperial governor embezzled an entire hive city's sanitation budget, causing a catastrophic plague outbreak that destabilized the logistics chain the hive was part of and caused the imperium to lose a sector-wide war when the flow of conscripts ceased. Nurgle proceeded to reward their sacrificial offering with apotheosis, despite the fact that they'd never heard of, much less worshiped Him. Now, seemingly uncorrupted, they regularly return to the imperium and try to bribe their way past the inquisition, all the while being an asymptomatic carrier for Nurgle's latest creations, until killed and banished back to the warp.
A slaaneshi big game hunter. A noble who grew bored of hunting mutated vermin in the underhive, peasants, gangers and so forth and so on, esclating to PDF and arbites officers. Then they ascended and now they're hunting the likes of chaptermasters and inquisitors while willingly handicapping themselves like having cultists warn the targets ahead of time, or only using specific weapons. Also, their daemon form totally has the requisite mandibles and pith helmet.
A tzeentchian who was once the champion tactician of a now-extinct lesser xenos race whose civilization was limited to hard-scifi technologies and their own solar system when the imperium invaded. While the future daemon prince's leadership inflicted surprisingly high casualties on the invaders, they were still heavily outnumbered and outgunned, leaving them desperate enough to accept the offer from the voices in their head. Good news, invasion's canceled, bad news, their whole species is extinct on account of their planet becoming a daemon world. Also, there's totally a tzeentchian cult lurking in the administratum who pointed the invasion at those particular xenos to recruit that particular individual.
A khornate ork. A warboss looted this real killy choppa off the corpse of their latest victim, then were steadily corrupted until their waaagh turned against them for becoming unorky, leading to a colossal fight which both sides greatly enjoyed. Every so often, the former warboss returns from the warp to krump their replacement for stealing their job and indiscriminately rampage as nobody obeys their orders. Again, both sides are having the time of their lives.
