Trump Post Election News.

And when it comes time for me to die to make sure Taiwan and our country are fucking free I will take it in the fucking chin.

Aren't you in intel or something?

Anyway, why the hell should the American nation's blood and treasure be spent on a tiny island like 10,000 miles away? There's a world of difference between our nation being free and Taiwan being free.

Because if you want America to be number one we need allies.
Letting Taiwan get captured is saying fuck you to alloes

Really. My normal everyday life would change drastically if China controlled Taiwan? How, exactly.
Prices would skyrocket on microchips. Really a lot of everyday products would increase in price. Then you have to account for the allies of ours deciding it isn't worth trading with us if we arnt willing to help defend an ally, and stop trading with us. So you lose ALL but Chinese goods from the Pacific.

So you're saying that literally the only country that will trade with the US in the absence of a notion that the US would defend them militarily is the US adversary, China.

In the Pacific, yes. They all ahead China and if we let China roam free why should they be allies with us?
I'm asking without malice nor sarcasm, but out of pure curiosity - what was it focused upon previously?
COIN in the middle east

The point is that you can trade with a country without being allies with one. If a country has "must defend me militarily" as a precondition for trade, then they're not an ally, they're a parasite.
This is pretty much every nation anywhere, including China. That's simply how international politics work, countries expect support in exchange for trade deals. Most countries want military support from the US because it has a great military. China also demands support but generally propaganda and political instead, just look at all the actors and companies that bend over backwards not to offend China, refuse to show China in a bad light, eliminate news that supports Hong Kong, and apologize for even mentioning Taiwan. Why? Because you don't just get to trade with a country, you have to support them as part of the deal.

Yeah, that would make us look like fair-weather friends, wouldn't it?
Man the USA has never sold out and abandoned it's allies for political gains. Never ever. There was just a temporary withdraw from Vietnam and Afghanistan. I'm sure the US backed goverments there are doing great.

Diffrence being We propped up those governments. Taiwan and Kapan are not propped up by us

Uhhhh, you're not really big on Cold War history are you?
We kept South korea alive. Out of A-stan and Vietnam, both were not initially supported by the US. Vietnam was supported by the French and when we got there we helped establish the South. A-stan we didn't try to set anything up until the 2000s, at least overtly.
South Korea was an example of a propped up government that managed to survive with US support. Taiwan has an advantage over all of them by not having any land borders with an enemy, allowing fo easier defense.
So let's keep making the same mistakes?
What?
