Anime & Manga Trigun: The Return or the Reboot?

True but I think you may see more of it as anime continues to become more main streamed. From the 90's with Suncoast and Adult Swim being the only options to Crunchyroll and anime on every streaming service.

While this has been great for fans not having to get fansubs from random sites it also has lead to anime getting more hollywood influence. While it has not really effected plotlines it has lead to more stuff like not being as true to the source materials or more reimagining like Trigun.
Maybe; but so far I'm fairly certain that besides this new Trigun anime, no other in recent memory has been altered from the source material this drastically.

Apparently the modifications from the original TriGun have been partly 'inspired' by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Bounding Into Comics said:
Noting that Vash the Stampede was one of his favorite heroes, Takei – despite claiming that retconning Nightow’s original manga didn’t quite sit right with him – told attendees that Trigun Stampede was inspired by the way “Marvel reworks and reinterpret the storylines of comics for the MCU.”

“Since the majority of anime adaptations aren’t like that wondered if that kind of experimentation was possible in Japan,” he asserted.

Still wondering where chain smoking Roberto De Niro replacing Milly Thompson even came from lol. And being lame journalists like in every other story instead of the semi original idea of insurance agents.

When has trying to ape the MCU ever worked for anyone in the entertainment industry? I'm sure someone out there managed to pull it off; but the odds are not in their favor, and they come across like idiots for admitting that's what they're trying to do. Especially now that the MCU isn't exactly on the upswing in terms of popularity. I really hope this fails hard enough to dissuade anyone else in Japan from trying anything similar again.

If I wanted a superhero anime or something inspired by superheroes... I'd rather watch One Punch Man.

Yeah, this uh, clearly is not actually Trigun.

Anyway, personally, the whole reason I like Japanese entertainment is because its not like western entertainment, and the idea of watching an anime explicitly inspired by western entertainment that is as base, LCD, and mainstream as you can get is not entertaining at all to me.

So I have not watched the original Trigun is a long time but the new one just came out on Crunchyroll so I thought why not.

The animation is like a better version of RWBY. It is not bad but not nearly as nice as some of the new 3D shows I ha e recently watched. In other word soild animation but not something that will wow you.

The plot line was basically just a interduction to the series. Not much happened but introducing. Vash is the about what I remember. Crazy antics with a bit of serious mixed.

Meryl is werid. She goes between moods really quick and it feels a bit out of place at times. The reporter instead of insurance agent is not horrible but no Milly is a downside.

It also starts explaining the backstory right away. This can be good but I did like Vash being a bit more mysterious in the frist one.

Overall I didn't hate it or love it mainly becasue the entire frist episode is just a gaint set up for the rest of the series. So I am willing to give it a couple more episodes before deciding if it is a flop or hit.

So did anyone ever end up watching Stampede to completion; and if so, what did you think about it? Because from I've seen, many of the people who liked it and talked about it on places like Reddit, also kept trying to convince everyone that neither the original manga, nor the first anime adaptation were ever any good; and that tells me they're incredibly shallow people who only liked Stampede because it was new, and have probably already forgotten about it in favor of the latest popular thing.

I gave it two episodes before giving up. Overall it was just missing the humor that madethe frist one fun to watch. The writing felt stiled and overall did not do a great job transferring between crazy humor and seriousness.
