Navy is one of the more important branches for a nation an ocean away from these "near pear adversaries" no?

And nah, we probably won't. There's no fucking point in Russia or China starting shit when the global american empire is rotting from the inside out as we speak. There's no nation out there with the ability to execute a Pearl-style strike on the US right now. Wide-spread espionage/sabotage might have a similar scale of effect though.

This is a very, very important point. If China attacks US civilian infrastructure, through any means, it takes a grand total of one missile or airstrike getting through to completely shatter them as a nation.

That really is not a game they want to play. It doesn't guarantee they won't, but they certainly shouldn't.
