Trudeau has officially invoked the Emergencies Act, which means that Canada is now effectively under martial law. Public assemblies are banned; the government can seize private property and force citizens (like say, the tow truck operators who have so far politely refused government demands to tow the protesters away) into helping out with its dirty work; and habeas corpus is effectively suspended so that anyone who refuses or annoys the regime in any other way can be summarily fined $500 or jailed for six months without trial - unless they're formally indicted (but not necessarily convicted!), in which case the sentences respectively increase to
$5,000 or five years - all at Trudeau's discretion. (
See here, specifically Part II (Public Order Emergency), 'Orders and Regulations')
The premiers of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec have stated that they don't want the hammer to drop on their provinces, but considering that many of the blockades outside of Ottawa (Coutts, AB and Emerson, MB off the top of my head) are in those provinces, it's definitely coming whether they particularly want it or not. These developments come as
support for ending the mandates spikes a full 10% (54%->64%) from where it was last I linked here and
the convoy in Ottawa has not only vowed to stand firm, but is still attracting reinforcements.
In the event that the CSIS reads this post, I will leave my judgment of this state of affairs brief: this is an absolute disgrace, and Trudeau is a rat bastard who honors the legacy of both his fathers but soils Canada's own with this move. May his name go down in history alongside such 'luminaries' as Ceausescu and Jaruzelski for this atrocity.
