Since it is the month of October and Halloween is coming up soon the ROB decides to get some amusement at your expense by scaring the ever loving shit out of you. He as a quest for you to find certain items he has scattered across the multiverse. Each task will be to test if you can think on the fly and improvise. Before you are sent on you mission you will be given these items.

1: One field pack with 5 MREs a pack of food bars (10 Day Supply), personal care products and a Canteen of water. And First Aid supplies.
2: Five Fragmentation Grenades
3: One 45 Caliber 1911 Pistol with Three 7 round Mags
4: One set of Forest Camo BDUs complete with combat boots
5: One Kabar, some Sail Twine, a compact Maglite, And batteries for the Maglite.
6: A Combat Tomahawk
7: An Emergency Sleeping Bag
8: A set of maps and a schematics for the places you have to search. All of which are on a special handheld device.
9: 10 Gold Coins, 10 Silver coins

This gear will get you through your quest. Now to the locations you must search.

Cyclops Island (The 7th Voyage of Sinbad): The Artifact you are looking for is in the Cyclops treasure cache. You must evade the Cyclops and return to the starting point to complete the task. The distance to the destination is 15 miles.

The Derelict Spaceship: This is a Spaceship in a random star system. There is an artifact located in the captains quarters. But the catch is there is also a Xenomorph on the ship. You must evade the Alien and get back to the shuttlebay which is your starting point. The total distance traveled will be 2 miles and 20 decks. The ship is similar in layout to what is seen in the Aliens franchise.

The Labyrinth: This is same Labyrinth from Greek Mythology. It is dark and creepy and contains a 10ft tall Minotaur that want to turn you into a cheeseburger. You must make it to the center of the maze while evading the beast to get the Artifact: The total distance traveled is 3 miles from the starting point. Unlike the other locations you can get lost if you are not making a few trail marks along the way.

Jurassic Park: This is the island from the 3rd movie and you task is pretty straight forward. Get to the building that use to contain the Pterasaurs. That is where the artifact is. You must evade all the predatory dinos and get back to the beach. Total distance traveled is 5 miles

Dracula's Castle: You must sneak into Dracula's castle and retrieve the artifact that is located in his crypt. This task will be exceedingly dangerous because Dracula will more than likely detect you once you enter the castle. But the ROB being fair minded will hold Dracula at bay for 15 minutes. That is the amount of time you have to get the artifact and get the hell out of dodge. Your starting point is the Village 3 miles from the Castle.

Once you complete all the tasks you will be given your reward. You will be turned into a Cosmic Level being as powerful as a Herald of Galactus. You can choose the order of each task you must complete and you can prep for each mission with items that can be found in the location you are sent to. You are given 1 full month to complete all of the tasks. No more no less. If you run out of food the ROB will give you more supplies but you will cost you 1 week of time to complete the missions. Failure to complete all the tasks will result in you being sent to tattooine to live with Tusken Raiders for 5 years. If you are killed by the monsters well shit happens.

So now that you know your missions how will you complete your tasks?

Hmm, well I'm fairly confident in my stealth as I've been able to creep up on deer many a time to within a few yards without being spotted by said animal. That's not particularly easy.

Consequently, I think I can win the Cyclops and Jurassic Park challenges easily. I can oustealth animals and easily fooled/distracted Cyclops. The Labyrinth is going to be a bitch, one of the smartest guys in all of Greek Mythology needed wings to escape it and I don't pretend I'm as smart as Daedelus. So I may fail there depending. OTOH I know how Theseus beat it so perhaps I can make it if I have enough string.

The alien depends entirely on how fast I move. That's going to be a footrace, if I can make it before the alien closes in, I'll make it. Otherwise, I have no illusions I can take a Xenomorph in HTH. This will depend a lot on how good a deckplan I can obtain and how well I can plan my route. Iffy.

Dracula's castle is near-impossible. The problem is that Bram Stoker was fairly clear that Dracula built the castle with his own abilities in mind. Stoker's Dracula couldn't fly, but the text says that he could climb a sheer wall like a lizard and any entry into the inner sanctum required climbing tower walls in that manner to a window many stories off the ground in order to gain access. I'm okay at rock climbing but not remotely to the degree that I think I could climb up and down a stone tower in fifteen minutes and then get back out before Dracula's after me, and he can both climb faster than I can and kick my ass, besides his hypnotic powers. That's beside the fact that I also need to hike a mile and a half to reach his castle so much of my fifteen minutes will be used up before I even start climbing.

Now one move is to wait until he's in England, otherwise I can't get this one. Even then, he left several Brides to guard the tower and I probably can't take them in a fight either, nor does ROB guarantee to hold them off temporarily. Granted, with those coins I might reasonably shack up in the nearby village for weeks until he does leave, but that doesn't answer the Brides. The power move is to see if I can simply camp out and do odd jobs to make ends meet until Van Helsing and Co. kill Dracula and his brides, then enter the tower after they're dead but ROB will probably see that as not meeting the spirit of the challenge.

So I'd say I pass two challenges, and might pass up to four with luck, but I would need tremendous luck to make the grand prize. Either the Xenomorph or Dracula will get me.

The timer in Dracula's castle starts when you enter it. Not on the hike to the castle. And once you exit the Castle he can't pursue due to the ROB blocking him.

My first targets would be the Labyrinth and the Derelict Spaceship. I am not as fast as I was in my 20s but I am pretty decent at coming up with a plan. For the Labyrinth I would study the maze layout trying to memorize a few sections. Once I enter I would use the sail twine for a trail. While also using the Kabar to mark the way in a few spots. If encounter the Minotaur I dump one full mag of 45acp into it's chest. Said bullets are decent against Brown Bear and the Minotaur is Brown Bear sized. Once I fine the artifact I use the Sail Twine to get back to the entrance.

For the Spaceship I study the deck layout and note all the fire suppression equipment onboard. That equipment is gonna be part of my defense against the Alien. I snake my way though each section with a rebreather on. When I detect the alien. I trigger the Fire Suppression system. Which will dump refrigerant and other chemicals in the spaces including the ventilation. Xenomorphs are many things but able to breath Freon and other fire suppressant chemicals is not one of them. I have the 1911 as my last resort. I get the artifact then I bug out.

Next I do Dracula's Castle. I spend a week and a half crafting a Crossbow and wooden steak bolts for my weapons. I also etch cross on the face of several of my bullets with a knife. Then I make some homemade Napalm with out of chemicals I find in the village. Gunny would be proud. When I am ready I make my way into the Castle. Using the shortest route I determined I make haste to the crypt. Keeping my head on a swivel with the crossbow at the ready. Vampires may be fast but as SLED insructor Jack Shepard said about me. I am the Aim Bot. I tend not to miss moving targets I fire at. If time runs out after getting the artifact. I will run and gun my way out of the castle. With liberal uses of Napalm.

Jurassic Park; I just stealth my way to get the Artifact. I am Santee I know how to move quietly in a forest.

Cyclops Island. This one ironically is my greatest fear. I am scared of Cyclops more than any others because it is the one creature I can't exactly kill easily. I will use the cover of night to slowly make my way to the cyclop treasure cache. I hopefully will have a bottle or 2 of the Napalm I made in the village. If spotted by the Cyclops I chuck the Napalm and beat feet with the artifact back to the beach. Then after I make it I say.......

I am Getting Too Old For This!!!

I take my Herald Powers and become a superhero in our Earth.

Here is a question, can we take any simple items with us? I have a solution with me that would benefit me greatly for some circumstances...

Jurassic Park from movie #3 sounds impossible. Remember in the first movie where the corporate spy got killed by that little dino with the neck fins? Think about how many small dinosaurs there are like that on the island that could easily track you down to wherever your little hiding hole is or climb up trees and kill you. At least the T-Rex and the Spinosaurus you can hear coming from a distance and you can hide from. Only way to get past the dinos would be to charter a plane to fly over the Pterasaur cage and then deploy a parachute, but I'm not sure if 10 gold coins would be enough to afford that. And you would be blowing all 10 coins on just that one mission.

Each location you go too you can get items to bring to another location. So with a little scavenging you can get most items you need.

As I posted above you can obtain items from any of the other missions you performed to help you in another mission. You just need to plan your mission order first.

Good. But, I was wondering if I could take a certain item with me from real-life, I have a reference book that might help me with certain more...mystical creatures. For instance a helm of awe or circle of protection might be useful, yes? Well, if you have the right materials for it...

Such information can be found in two places. The Village near Dracula's Castle. And the computer database on the Derelict ship.

First I go to Dracula’s castle. I knock on the door and respectfully ask to speak to Count Dracula. I explain my mission to him and tell him that if I complete my mission, I will be turned into a being of godlike power and that I will give him a favor if he helps me. Dracula, being an intelligent and insightful creature, sees the benefit of making a deal, he gives me the artifact and transforms me into a vampire.

I then use my vampiric powers to complete the other missions, and being a Stoker vampire, I am not killed by sunlight.

Upon retrieving all artifacts, I return to Dracula with my cosmic powers and complete the favor as promised.

I was thinking of something much similar, minus the whole "become an undead abomination" concept. Just ask permission to do so, and in return see about saving his immortal soul from eternal hellfire. I am sure not burning in a lake of fire alongside a baby back bitch* is well worth it. And I'd rather not become a vampire, because the whole vampire things imply the existence of an immortal soul, and if they exist-I'd rather not lose it and become something akin to an accountant**. Anyways, the whole immortal soul thing will make completing the mission more important.

And I find it funny the difference in our approaches, given we are both irreligious.

*Said "baby back bitch" being Satan.
**Vampires are very much like accountants. Soulless, drink the life force of others and are obsessed with numbers.

Well that is one way of going about it.

Okay, that means I go to visit the Voivode first. And I may very well have a talent for magic, given one of the men claimed to be wizards by the common folk is in my ancestral tree...

If you have the aptitude for magic go for it. Do whatever works best in beating the missions. ;)

I would actually try, and gain as much power as I can. Even if I fail, then I might be able to succeed...and even if you are god-like there is always more power, more knowledge and wisdom... And speaking of what works the best... I would say that for a couple scenarios, it would be diplomacy. Talk to Dracula, bribe the Cyclops with some sheep (or distract him), and see if I can't bring something to bribe/distract the minotaur.

Anyways, I'd actually have to write out my full plans and what I'd do.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention. The Derelict Spaceship has an Armory onboard with standard Colonial Marine weapons. It is however on the opposite end of the ship from the Captains Quarters and the starting point. If you want to get weapons you will have to move away from your objective first to get the weapons. Or you could try and make a mad dash to the armory after you get the artifact. The choice is yours.
