NYPD exodus: Police on pace to quit, retire in record numbers

Not a good look for NYC Mayor Eric Adams (D). Sounds like he's im danger of being Dinkins 2.0 if he doesn't reverse this disturbing trend.

Good riddance to illegal dirt bikes and ATVs.

New York City is in a property bubble. How many businesses are actually in NYC and how many took the COVID mess and used it to shut the offices down and have employees work from home, saving the company money?

When the bubble bursts it will fuck their economy hard in the short run.

In the long run it might be nessary for the city to rebuild itself, the way things are going isnt even remotely sustainable.

523 NYPD officers quit in last 30 days…

The department said 523 members left in June alone

The NYPD took another huge hit in June, as 523 cops are leaving the force, with 123 of those officers resigning — the most in a single month in at least a decade, according to staggering pension fund stats.

Of the total number of cops exiting, 400 are retiring, according to a police source.

To date, 2,119 cops have left the job in 2022, with 1,472 retiring and 647 resigning, a 38% spike over the previous record of 1,535 for the first six months of 2020, the attrition numbers show.

“The exodus has become a stampede. We’re not only losing experienced veterans. We’re also losing cops in the prime of their careers who are taking their talents elsewhere,” said Police Association President Patrick Lynch.

NYC Bodega Worker Being Charged w/ Murder for Stabbing Ex-Con

A 51-year-old bodega worker in New York City is facing murder charges following a July 1 incident that left an ex-con dead.

Jose Alba, the bodega worker, was confronted by 34-year-old Austin Simon inside a Manhattan deli when the altercation turned physical.

Surveillance footage shows Simon putting his hands on the older man while he was sitting down behind the counter.

Alba responded by drawing a knife and stabbing Simon multiple times in the shoulder and chest.

Simon, who was out on parole after spending a stint in jail for assaulting a police officer, would not survive. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged Alba with second-degree murder. He is currently being held at Rikers Island. Bail has been set at $250,000.

A criminal complaint obtained by Fox News Digital indicates that the deadly use of force happened around 11 p.m. on Friday after the sale of a bag of potato chips was declined.

Simon’s girlfriend was allegedly buying the potato chips for her daughter but didn’t have enough money to complete the transaction.

“Informant observed the defendant reach over the counter, grab her daughter’s hand, and seize the item from her daughter’s hand after the transaction was declined,” the complaint read. “Informant then left the store and informed her boyfriend, Austin Simon, of the clerk’s actions, and returned to the store with Mr. Simon, who went behind the counter of the store to confront the clerk.”

The complaint also notes that Simon’s girlfriend tried to push Alba off and failed to do so. She then retrieved her own knife and stabbed Alba in the arm.

“We are continuing to review the evidence and the investigation is ongoing,” a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office told Fox News Digital.

If found guilty, Alba could face up to 25 years behind bars.

Alba’s daughter Yulissa told the New York Post that her father acted in self-defense.

“He’s never hurt anybody. He’s never had an altercation where he had to defend himself,” she said. “This is the first time for him.”

The problem is that they, to my knowledge, the numbers I've looked at DON'T count shut down offices so much as business that have permanently closed. That number for restaurants has gone north of 50% inside NYC and you find similar numbers for retail businesses as well.

NYC has turned themselves from an economic powerhouse to a 3rd World City with delusions of grandeur.

This is what the people of new york want.

Remember when Julani cleaned up the town the people there did nothing but bitch and moan about it for years. New yorkers hated him for doing that dispised him for doing that. If there isn't piss on the streets, and a chance of being stabbed to death in an ally new yorkers are not happy.

This is the NYC that the people of the city always wanted and we have to respect that wish.

Mexican cartel smugglers nabbed with $1.2M worth of meth in NYC — then released thanks to lax bail laws: feds

A pair of suspected Mexican drug-cartel smugglers was busted with a $1.2 million stash of crystal meth — but had to be freed thanks to New York’s lax bail laws, authorities said Monday.

The two California men, Luis Estrada and Carlos Santos, were allegedly caught red-handed by the US Drug Enforcement Administration as part of a multi-agency investigation. Yet frustrated agents had to stand by and watch as the suspects were cut loose on just supervised release, the federal agency said.

That’s because the two men could only be charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as opposed to a narcotic, under the state’s outdated drug laws, authorities said. And the rap does not qualify for bail according to the Empire State’s soft-on-crime 2019 bail-reform measures, they said.

“This is a serious problem,” said New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan to The Post.

“The failure to include methamphetamine crimes among bail-eligible offenses was probably an oversight.

“At the time the bail laws were changed, New York City was not a distribution hub for methamphetamine. Now it is, and we are unable to even ask for bail, even if we arrest someone with no ties to the city and a load worth millions of dollars,” Brennan said.

“I hope that when legislators are better informed they will make a change,” she added.

Authorities said Estrada, 19, and the 34-year-old Santos were nabbed with 165 pounds of crystal meth while attempting to make two drop-offs.

According to the criminal complaint, Estrada was arrested near the South Street Seaport in Manhattan shortly before 10 a.m. on July 5 lugging a suitcase with 40 pounds of the drug inside.

On July 8, authorities said, Santos was arrested in Inwood in Manhattan with 100 pounds of crystal meth and a small amount of cocaine.

Yet both men were arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court within a day of each other last week — and freed on supervised release.

“Under current New York State law, neither man could be charged with a bail eligible offense,” said a joint statement from Brennan’s office, the DEA and Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.

“Methamphetamine is categorized as a controlled substance, but not a narcotic drug. Regardless of the amount of methamphetamine involved, and regardless of a defendant’s lack of connections to New York State, under current law judges may not set bail on cases involving the possession of only methamphetamine.”

DEA Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino noted in the release that “methamphetamine is running rampant throughout the country, causing addiction, overdoses and poisonings.

According to the agency, the feds seized 78 kilos of the highly addictive drug last year — and a whopping 1,108 kilos so far this year.

“This year, DEA has seen methamphetamine seizures in New York increase 1300% since 2021, indicating New York is a bullseye for traffickers.

“This seizure is a calculated treachery by Mexican cartels to flood the United States with their poison and expand their customer base while driving addiction and increasing profit margins,” he added.

In a report released in January by the New York state Department of Health, deaths involving methamphetamines spiked from 0.3 per 100,000 residents in 2016 to 1.7 per 100,000 in 2020.

The state saw 184 meth overdose deaths in 2020, with most of the deaths — 152 — involving a mix of fentanyl, the data shows.

Something like this just happened in California with fentanyl. It's almost like the cartels (and the Chinese, who seem to be aiming for maximum irony/ pettiness) have been paying off our politicians.

Outrage as two men caught with 150,000 fentanyl pills are released

How ironic considering that Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is meeting with Biden today.
