    Saturday, April 21st, 1984: Congressman Peter Hayward, III (D-CA) has publicly expressed interest in challenging CA Governor George Deukmejian (R) in the 1986 CA gubernatorial election on the assumption that Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley (D), the 1982 Democratic Party gubernatorial nominee, doesn't seek a rematch. Hayward is the son of the late United States Senator Peter Hayward (D-CA), who was killed under mysterious circumstances.

Mansfield has served as US Ambassador to Japan since 1977 having been tapped by then-US President Jerry Brown & has continued serving in the position under current US President Ronald Reagan.

    Monday, April 30th, 1984: Hong Konger Prime Minister Lei Dang attracts more controversy. This time, allegations of campaign finance violations by accepting $6.6 million 'campaign contributions' from a mysterious Brazilian agency. These controversies have caused Dang's approval ratings to plunge downward to the lowest: 27% of Hong Kongers approving the Prime Minister's job performance.
