According to what i read,spiders could not be much bigger then they are,or they would be unable to breath.
So,in this particular case,probably imagination or much smaller spiders.

You have a point.But,even with this,becouse they do not have skeleton,they could be not much bigger then that crab.

Then again someone could have encountered a giant spider but never made it back to talk about it. How many people go missing without a trace in the US? How large is the cave system and what could it hide?

True,but they must live in areas where people either do not go,or go rarely.Like cave system,for example,althought in that case we have problem what big spiders would eat there....

Becouse spiders had armour made from their webs which defeat normal ammo?
