So what are you watching?

Started Yellowjackets after Book of Boba Fett 1 to 5 (3 episode is the shittiest so far and probably because directed by Robert Rodriguez with too much lazy writing). Boba is goood 4 out of 5, even though episode 5 is mostly about another character.

So except for a lesbo couple with a kid, I would say it's a pretty good show so far.

I am on finished : 1 to 4.

Jesus fucking Christ, it's actually good. It doesn't seem (at glance) that the imdb result 8.1 was doctored. It's a horror that's creepy and slowburn so far.

It can compete with Hill House for sure.

Has anyone seen Yellowstone yet and if so... obviously... what are your thoughts on it?

A grandmother at my church loves the show, as does her granddaughter, and a relatively wide swathe of others. Part of that is some semi-local attachment because the actual filming and setting is relatively close to us by Western America standards (IE <800 miles away!). But it seems like an impressive demographic-spanning to have an elderly, Westerns-only type of lady pulled-in the same way her mid-20s, superheroes and CSI young-un is.

By what little I've seen/heard of it, I'd certainly put my own interest at higher than it was/is for Walking Dead (which I think is firmly negative at this point and started out at almost nothing) or any other big-name TV drama I can think of. And if I was bigger into them it seems like it'd scratch that itch pretty well with a nice Western-ish flair...Plus Costner is always a good actor and at least visually fits the role of a ranch patriarch.

But...I just can't find it in myself to dedicate so much time to a TV series...Especially on a streaming service.

In actual-watching news:
Got to go see Casablanca at the theater-proper thanks to an anniversary showing. It holds up, of course. Is there literally anything that could be said about that movie that hasn't been said?

Like with a Empire Strikes Back showing I went to a year or so ago it was something I'd never done before and even if it's not as visual a film as that the experience itself was well worth it. Seeing Bogart giving classic lines on the big-screen from a theater-chair just feels different and it was a cool atmosphere just because a lot of the folks there, myself and those I was with included, took the excuse/opportunity to get all gussed up in suits and dresses. Saw more fedoras in one night than I've seen in months or even years...And perhaps the only set of in-person, for-real spats on one older gentleman who seemed to be having a fun time.

9/10 for the 9 episodes I watched of Yellowjackets.

Some moments and charateristic were likely to have a woke crowd appeased but I counted them and they are 3 basically.

I finished Yellowjackets and I vanno recommend It enough except for a few moments that are yes progressive. It Is also set in a 2021 WITHOUT MASKS!

NOW WATCHING All of Us Are Dead (Korean: 지금 우리 학교는; RR: Jigeum Uri Hakgyoneun; lit. Now at Our School) starts a bit like 28 Date Later with a twist and setting Is very much similari to High Scholl of The Dead.

UPDATE : A BETTER ALREADY SERIES THAN WALKING DEAD IMO.

Also , pseudo-"taboo" of being unaware OF the zombie genre ? Well here it doesn't happen. They straight up name dropped TRAIN TO BUSAN.

I am 1/3 of the way through the 2nd season of Farscape.

I liked Farscape but it does sometimes get a bit weird. The later seasons with the Wormhole aliens does cause the plotlines to become a bit over complicated.

But it is definitely a good show for any Sci-Fi fan

Currently I just saw the frist three epsoides of Legend Vox Machina. It is a show about a D and D adventure group that is a spin off of Critical Role.

I would say that anyone who has played D and D will likely like the show. The main characters actions are ones that people I have played with would do. They also do a good job of olaying up the stereotypes like horny bard.

I have say that the show maxe me laugh. While the animation is decent with longer running plotlines making it worth a look.

I'm splitting my time between Brand New Animal, Moyashimon, and All of Us Are Dead at the moment. Just finished Hellbound, World's Finest Assassin Reincarnated, and Realist Hero.

Tried the new season of Dirty Jobs, it's Dirty Jobs so still good.

I am watching to. Seeing the Turkey farm flashbacks in the last epsoide makes me want to re-watch the old seasons now.

I saw ads for World's Finest Assassin Reincarnated and thought it looked interesting but have not got around to seeing it yet.

Saw Rogue on Tubi. It's an animal horror or monster movie involving a giant Crocodile starring RADHA MITCHELL, SAM WORTHINGTON and other people... including a young and fertile teenaged Mia Wasikowski.

Long story short it's about a tour boat that is doing a river day tour to check out the crocodiles and other things. Needless to say things go AWRY and the tourists find themselves in a life and death struggle with a predatory Crocodile.

Let me also say... this movie is actually GOOD. The tourists and other characters were actually diverse and interesting and took time to develop them before the disaster strikes and gave them all distinctive characters and ones you actually cared about. They even had character development!!! And let me say, it improved the movie a lot. You actually care a lot more about what's happening when you... care about the characters. It increases tension and drama and everything. And it worked great for this movie.

Most of the movie.

Tragically the last third or so of the film was its weakest bit when some of the survivors somehow end up having to confront the giant crocodile for an ACTION PACKED showdown which was actually extremely formulaic. With that said, in spite if the final act, which was more formulaic then bad, it was well worth watching. It was a Monster movie that actually showed some investment in acting and character development and made what could've been another bog standard Monster flick genuinely watchable.

Would recommend.

And don't confuse this movie with the 2020 movie Rogue starring Megan Fox. For some reason on Tubi it showed the 2020 Rogue video cover for this 2007 movie which is something completely different AFAIK lol. And to be honest, this Monster flick is probably better then whatever that 2020 Rogue movie is aboot.

I finished Yellowjackets. Recommend it even with a cliffhanger ending and a couple (or one ?) of PC moments.

I finished All Of Us Are Dead. Korean Zombie series who manages to do a better job in 1 season than 10 of Walking Dead, not to mention they drop the trope Zombies don't exist before they appear. I think their is also a bit of genuine social commentary.

Watching now Hellbound. Korean paranormal drama series. Social commentary as well probably.

Into the third episode of All Of Us Are Dead right now and while the beginning was really slow and uninteresting to me along with the characters, once people started getting bitey it really drew me in. Those are some of the best zombie outbreak action scenes I've ever seen. Really kinetic and action filled and fast paced without stupid shaky cam bullshit. Wide angles. Long shots. Establishing shots. It was all done so well. Great gore and screams and makeup and sound effects. The cafeteria scenes were amazing.

It's not perfect. A lot of the characters are kinda interesting but still feel kinda shallow to me. Some of the choices they make seem dumb... but then again... they are High School kids in an apocalypse. Some of the drama seems kinda cliche but it's alright for a Korean series. The characters I really don't care for though are the overdone school bully characters who just become more and more eye rolling with every scene they inhabit.

Overall though I think it's a great series. When I'm done I might actually rewatch just to see if I can get a fuller appreciation of the cast of characters. Price is worth the admission alone for the numerous zombie outbreak scenes. One thing that really lacks in the troves of zombie media is how much people just want to see the zombie apocalypse as its happening... not afterwards like most Zombie media does. And this is doing it in troves so far.

Korean acting is not...the same as American-European movies. It's almost an alien world just like arab movies.

Yes I watch those as well.

Oh yeah I've been watching Korean movies and television since Tae Guk Gi. The acting and the plotlines are different then in Western media, which is totally fine. For some shows and movies it's more palatable for me or even enhances the storytelling, like with the action-comedy Guns & Talks for example but yeah it can be a bit much. Like I was turned off a fair bit in the first episode of The Squid Game and that was mostly due to the Korean style of acting. But you gotta give it a chance and it can shine. And this one is definitely shining now.

It's almost an alien world just like arab movies.

Yes I watch those as well.

I'm sure I've seen some of it... the only thing that really stands out in my memory is the greatest war and action thriller of all time, the Turkish movie Valley of the Wolves - Iraq. :sneaky:

So just watched 355. It was a generally a disappointment but not for the reasons I thought.

Surprisingly it had less "hear me roar" woke women do it better then you would expect. Overall there is very little of it and it is not really mentioned that the main cast is female at all. It mainly just is.

Overall the acting is your standard blockbuster level. Not great but decent enough. The chase scene in Morocco os fairly fun to watch. The
Where the bad guy just shoot his hostages till they give in was a nice change of pace. Normallythere is a last mintue save or the bad guy never follows though
.

Sadly that is about it for high points. It falls into the trap of being over complicated along the lines of Mission Impossible 2. The twists never end and they really overplay the spy handlers are the bad guy trop.

Most of the fight scenes are choppy and hard to follow. They use a lot of subtitles which is nice and helps you easily tell the background spy agencies apart. The problem comes is that the white subtitles are hard to read in certain scenes and was not well thought out in editing.

The movie has a bit of Super China helps poor westerners that Hollywood likes to insert for that sweet Chinese money.

So overall a nice surpise that they really did not make a super woke women are the best like Ocean's 8 or Ghostbusters 2016. But a disappointment in that it was overly long and complicated spy flim with so so action scenes.
