Should I drink milk?

Dietetics is not a mature and reliable field. It goes through fads because dieticians do not really know as much as they think they do. For exampel the food pyramid is pseudoscience. Likewise the big panic about fats being the soruce of all ills nad the panic about shurger bieng the soruce of all ills that followed were just fads, not science. As long as you eat a variety of foods and balance your energy intake with expenditure, you should be fine.

I saw a youtube ad that made sense. Eating a salad does not make one healthy, Eating a balanced meal is what does

Indeed dietics are weird and fad based, not the least because big companies will put out lots of money to get their particular item listed as "healthy" when they can. The current food pyramid with it's massive section of grains was built on contributions to Obama's campaign by grain farm lobbies.

In my own lifetime I've seen eggs go from "a critical part of the healthy diet" to "literally Satan in edible form" and back twice. That's how bad dietary advice can get.

The most important diet advice is pay attention first to not what you eat, but how much you eat. The second piece of dieting advice is that the best diet is one that you can stick to.

And if you are like me, and can't control yourself, the solution is delegating responsibility down to a manageable amount. For example, to stop me from pigging out on junk food/desert, I make sure my house has no junk food. To stop me buying all the junk food at the store (they always make you walk right past the bakeries in the grocery stores, the clever bastards), I pay Shipt to do my shopping and food delivery for me. I also ask my mom not to send me desert in the mail. Together, even though I won't hesitate to eat any junkfood nearby, I have consistently been losing weight for the past while.

To be fair, too much sugar is bad for you; my mother, for example, has cirrhosis of the liver thanks to her sweet tooth. The problem is that everything has sugar in it these days, including milk, which makes it hard to avoid.

I used to weigh close to 320 pounds, until I starting putting effort into controlling the portions I eat in one sitting. The way to go about it for me was to eat less, but more often, and train myself out of eating like each meal was my last. I lost about thirty pounds over the past year just from that simple change in my eating habits, and am now sitting at around 290 pounds.
