My talk about bumblebee comes from the fact a lot of fans including myself feels it's been overly forced with little build up, Adams death for an example was shamelessly used to promote the ship and it felt badly forced.

I don't have problem with Bumblebee but I really just feel like the chemistry between Blake and Yang just isn't enough and I and many others feel like RT went all out with shoving it down our throats in an unnatural fashion because the 'woke' shippers kept pushing for it to happen right away and kept accusing RT of 'queer baiting'

If you like Bumblebee that's fine but you can't deny that RT has had it's problems with introducing the ship without making seem shoehorned in last minute.

This, 105%. Bloody woke shippers...

I think I made snide commentary earlier in the thread about how quickly RT had to sideline Sun because by dint of being a basic, functioning character archetype he was simultaneously stealing the entire faunus side plot and was providing more chemistry with Blake than any of the fan preferred couples. If I wasn't angry at being robbed of basic, functional writing I'd find it funny.

Onto spoilery thing, I predicted that they'd "redeem" Emerald all the way back in season 3 and I'm pissed at how right I was. For all that the RWBY writers shoot themselves repeatedly in the knee in their effort to subvert expectations, they somehow manage to hit all the actually annoying cliches perfectly.

And finally there's Ironwood. I cannot watch his descent into villainy and accept the Watsonian reasons. Every time he ones up his asshollery I can practically see the Tumbrina writing the long, supposedly scathing indictment of fascism and militarism behind it. The slide does not make organic sense on its own and I can't help but see the narrative thumbprints steering the plot that way. That and I'm still irritated that no one called out the Robin Hood assholes on their functional sabotage of his legitimate efforts to create a Salem proof method of global communication. You don't get to burn down the government's food depot and then complain that they're not handing out food to the poor. Whatever, threatening to nuke your own city is a bridge too far no matter how bad the writing. So much for that. Maybe we'll make the Vacuo leader an asshole/traitor too. Just so we can go 3 for 3.

On the other hand, I legitimately like Watts now. I hated him upon introduction as he was the instrument of RTs brain dead magic computer plot, but he's just such a legitimately compelling villain in a series that has lacked those since Roman died. He's balanced as a rear echelon type, clearly has fun doing what he does, and good lord his verbal bitch slap game is top notch. I don't know who wrote that rant at Cinder, but I legitimately have a hard time believing that it was the same chumps that wrote the Qrow/Clover/Robyn dialogue.

That's a bit unfair isn't it? For one, nobody knew what Ironwood was even doing with Amity, and Atlas despite the Beacon incident wasn't at war.

Really Ironwood being absurdly secretive and keeping officials in the dark without cause is the main reason for his downfall, he could have saved himself the trouble if he had took the Councilors and Robyn aside at the very start and informed them of Salem before telling the wider world through Amity.

Considering what happened with Lionhart(spelling?) Ironwood had good reason to compartmentalize information. If the Colosseum was caught on the ground it would have been easy to destroy. That things never played out that way, well, I refer back to my Watsonian vs Doyalist complaint, but if Robyn and her gang were good enough to track and ambush the supplies, they were good enough to find out what they were being used for.

Point is, at this point in the story I no longer care about being fair to the writers. They've had eight seasons to write a compelling story and seem to have higher priorities. I keep watching because I like good animation, flashy lights, and sunk costs.

Now let me throw popcorn at the rapidly hollowing corpse of my formerly favorite success story.

Cool motive, still theft and sabotage.

The FNDM (The name for the horrible part of the fandom) are what ruined Blake and Yang ship for me.
I was and still am a Black Sun shipper because of the chemistry they had in vol 4 and 5.
I like Yang and Blake ship had they made it a better one.

Jaune and Weiss still best ship! White knight!

As for the episode
I mean, I always saw her being turned good. Kinda hard not to when you see how Merc treats her and how Cinder ignores her love.

My point is from her point of view it was justified, and at this point who would you argue has the moral standing or the reason to call her out on it?

Also on another note the fandom is totally channeling Locke when it comes to their opinion of Ironwood.

Well, we're back to talking and drama. I suspect that if I still cared about most of the cast this might work a little better, but the writers stopped the plot so that everyone could sit down a talk their feelings over and it just murders the momentum and comes off as artificial, especially with how quickly they glossed over Qrow's issue.

And I still really hate Emerald so if she said anything poignant someone should tell me because I skipped her parts.

Uuugh ... one thing that bugs me about the backstory is how it talks about how mankind lost the power of magic. That means nothing when we have barely any idea of what it was like to have it ...
We get to see it at least in the hands of the witch, and some of it from the wizard

Yeah. A damn good episode. Cliffhanger, what happens with RWBY and especially Yang. Penny, so on so forth. This is going to be a VERY interesting final episode or two.

I sense a great disturbance in the force! It's as if a million Bumblebee FNDM fanatics cried out in anguish!

If WhiteKnight happens it will most likely be next volume onward. At the very least, Weiss will be going through a lot of character development next volume, as she will have lost her home, father, and country, not counting if they axe Willow, Winter or Whitley. She will finally have time to dwell on all that's changed in under two days.

That would be a more appropriate time to edge her towards more development.

All in all, I am hoping next volume will be more driven by character interaction, with conflict being more limited as since Beacon their has been little of that and with Salem busy rallying new forces to take on Shade it could serve as a good breather.

we are at the end of the volume, so I can see them using the end to start White Knight ti grow.
I hope they don't kill Winter. That would be devastating.
I doubt the rest of the Schnees will die. They will have to rebuild though..
I hope next volume is character driven as well..
ESPECIALLY with the whole Yang thing..

I do wonder what happend to her....

again. I would not mind little build up for that.. I do wonder if they will kill off Anyone jere..

I doubt they will be killing off Yang. These people are so seeped in sjw garbage, they would recoil the thought of perma-killing one half of their dyke ship. No, Yang will miraculously survive and return to the gang of terrorists.
She will obv survive, but definently no idea if she will be the same.
Also, I doubt it is a Dyke ship.

Also, the show is called RWBY. The four girls are the core marketing material of the show, in the title acronym, the color theming, and on the posters. They're not going to have a show advertised and called after a team of four girls, but only actually have three. Unless they do some weird nonsense where they have another character fill in that spot thematically or something.

Alright, fuck it. That was good. All the payoffs in this episode were actually built up beforehand and I can't complain about the protagonists using their noodles after months of complaining about them being retarded. They very cleverly cut the Gordian knot and actually used all the resources at their disposal. I still hate Emerald and hope she falls into the eternal abyss.

Now for the unintended consequence.

1. Atlas is toast. Not just the city, but the kingdom as a political entity will not survive this fiasco. That's not our heroes' fault, the major Grimm incursion and Ironwood burning the leadership to ash did that, but Remnant's geopolitical situation was just scrambled like an egg in a nuclear reactor.

2. For some reason we're sending all these refugees to Vacuo. From a Doyalist perspective this makes sense since this is the only kingdom we haven't visited yet, but if I recall the world-building correctly Vacuo is the poorest and least stable of the kingdom's outside of Menagerie. Not a great place to evacuate an entire metropolis' worth of refugees. (I cynically look forward to the subtle and even-handed depictions of refugees and immigrant issues in the next season)

3. Ironwood, his loyalists, and his bomb are still out there. That's going to haunt our heroes for certain.

4. The whole world knows about magic, or at least portals, now. There's not a lot of easy scientific explanation for the void road. There's going to be a lot of questions asked and our villains will undoubtedly find a way to utilize this themselves. As the genie guy said, you kids are either brilliant or foolish.

5. And finally we now have two relics in the open. The end of the world is closer than its even been. Cinder is taking competence lessons from Watt and we only have so long of a break before Mother Boringest pulls herself back together.

Its pretty clear that next season is going to be our Vacuo adventure followed by a return to Vale and the final relic. The question is just what the road getting there will look like. There's enough time to salvage what's left of the series, but the RT team will need to write a lot of episodes on the same level as this one and episode 10 to make that work.

Also I will give them 100 free points if they bring Phyrra back. I really don't care about the narrative cohesiveness of this series anymore than the writers do, so can I get something out of that?
