Which realisic monarchical restorations never actually occurred? So far, I could think of:
-France in the early 1870s. This would have been especially plausible had Henri, Count of Chambord died a decade or more earlier. (His and his sisters' lifespans can be switched for the sake of this scenario, if necessary, with him rather than his sister getting and dying from typhus in 1864.)
-Portugal during the Antonio Salazar era. Though whether this restored Portuguese monarchy would have actually survived the Carnation Revolution is unclear, to say the least.
-If there is no Nazi rise to power in Germany in the 1930s and a more moderate right-wing authoritarian (but less totalitarian) regime emerges in Germany instead, you could see a Hohenzollern restoration occur in Germany as a way of giving this new German regime greater legitimacy. Though again it's unclear whether such a restored German monarchy would actually survive any subsequent German transition to democracy.
-The Hapsburgs could eventually get restored in Austria and/or Hungary if there is no Anschluss, no World War II at all, and/or no Fall of France in 1940. But this would almost certainly require them permanently giving up any goals of territorial revision because otherwise the Little Entente will never actually agree to their restoration. But otherwise it could occur in the 1940s or later, such as in the 1950s in Hungary after Miklos Horthy's death. In such a scenario, Miklos Horthy could designate Otto von Hapsburg as his successor or something like that, similar to how Francisco Franco designed Juan Carlos as his successor in Spain after his death in 1975 in real life.
-Albania in 1997 if the referendum there would not have been rigged against the monarchy, as it apparently was in real life: 1997 Albanian monarchy referendum - Wikipedia Maybe they could get another referendum in regards to this in the future? Just an idea.
Anyway, which additional realistic examples of this can you think of? Thoughts on this?
