Russia(gate/bot) Putin can run until 2036!

Huh who could've imagined Russia would've found a mechanism in which it allowed Putin to potentially remain in charge until 2036. Now CLEARLY this doesn't mean that Putin will be the de facto ruler of Russia until 2036. If anything this merely enhances Democracy in that Putin can merely run for elections to become leader of the country until 2036. It would be anti-democratic to simply excuse one candidate for simply being a mere long term incumbent after all. :sneaky:

Voting in this plebiscite took place over seven days (among other novel features unique to this vote) to ensure maximum public safety in the wake of the #CommieCough Pandemic.

This make me curious about his endgame.
I mean, he could have declared himself president for life some time ago.

What endgame? The Russian leadership comes from the soviet intel days and he's the last generation of that. The Russian people are the third fastest aging in the world, their also the sickest in the world. The youngest parts of the country are regions with a history of trying to break away. their educational system collapsed during the 90s and the cadre responsible for mataining the country is aging into mass retirement.

Russia's screwed and Putin thinks he's the only competent leader they have left, sadly he might be right.

He should have appointed himself the Tsar (rumor has it he has a pretty young Tsaritsa on the side, along with a young Tsarevich by her), so the dynasty would have been secured.
;)
Might be his end game, who knows? I just find it strange how he is going about it in a roundabout way, if you wanna be a dictator, fine, if you wanna be a democracy, good, but what’s this weird half thing going on?

Who knows... Maybe he wants to retain a measure of legitimacy. As long as people support his rule (his approval rating is what, 60%? Used to be 80% earlier?) does the dog and pony show of electing some new face for the office now and then really matter? Keep in mind Russia came a very long way from Yeltsin-era total decay under Putin.

It's a bit more complicated. IIRC studies on Russian patriotism show the "youngest" areas also the most patriotic. Caucasus and the Far East are more patriotic (and more eager for military service which in those areas is not just duty but an expected "manly thing" to do) then the big metropolitan areas like Moscow or Petersburg, which are rather cosmopolitan.

Problem is, Putin has no successor. Someone willing to continue his work. So when he dies, I expect Russia to be torn between elite infighting, pro western and pro Chinese factions, and secessionist tendencies.

Well, that's a thing. Medvedev's career burned when he was played by "western partners" as he didn't have the Libia operation vetoed in the UN security council, and then to surprise of exactly no one mission parameters changed to "regime change" and Medvedev was made to look a gullible fool. Which is (supposedly) why he wasn't allowed another turn as president.
Lavrov is older then Putin, Shoigu is his junior by 3 years only, so not that much either.

No idea on who could replace Putin...

not shocked with this. putin would likely to stay in power until his death and if there is no replacement, then Russia is screwed.

...you really know nothing about Russia's internal situation, or how they view 'Woke' culture, do you?

I know Putin’s into laws that are pretty Anti-LGBT and that Russia’s equivalent of ANTIFA is way more subdued or pathetic
