Thoughts and Prayers for the OG Republican Iconoclast Nikki Haley. First in tearing down Confederate iconography and now first in pandering to that same base she had utter contempt for.

Not only was Nikki Haley incapable of saying the word Slavery. She was incapable of saying States Rights, Secession, Constitution, Preserving the Union, Lincolns Election, or anything in the entire general region of what caused the Civil War.

Very impressive.

What was the cause of World War Two?

Ummm I think it was about how the government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do.

Oh and Vietnam?

Ummm I think it was about how the government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do.

American Revolution?

Ummm I think it was about how the government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do.

The Scouring of the Shire?

Ummm I think it was about how the government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do.

The Horus Heresy?

Ummm I think it was about how the government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do.

👏👏👏👏

I don't understand some Republicans issue with pointing out slavery's involvement in the Civil War. I mean it was the Democrats who did it. Just make a point of reminding everyone who exactly was fighting for the right to own slaves... rich Democrats.

I think it's because of something I cam across on Quora of all places.

'Why don't Black people vote Republican?' 'Because Black people remember the last time they were under a Conservative government.'

Believing that is non-sensical. But it's basically 'Conservatives wanted Slaves!' turned into a great stone about the necks of conservatives.

Like German Nazi-shame.

Well quora is a cesspit, with daily questions from clueless leftists like "Why are Conservatives allowed to own guns against the Constitution" and other braindead gems like that.

Its also not really comparable with Germany. Most Germans at the time were totally on board with the Nazi party.

Republicans were the party of anti-slavery. Republicans literally have the best possible defense when it comes to accusations of supporting the Confederacy.

Democrats wanted slaves. Democrats founded the Confederacy, Democrats made up the majority of the Confederates political and military leadership. Hell, the only Democrat Senator who didn't join the Confederacy was Andrew Jackson, and that guy was an asshole.

I heavily suspect the truth is most Republicans literally don't know the history of their party or the opposition party, and the Democrats love that.

Well quora is a cesspit,

I know. But that doesn't mean something useful can occasionally come out of it.

It's like Sturgeon's Law. 90% of fanficiton is garbage, but 10% is usually pretty good.

Same kinda vibe.

'Don't you know about the party switch?!'

None of that actually matters because most people will refuse to care.

It's like explaining how the 3/5ths compromise was pro-abolition. Modern Lefties can't get over the fact that counting only 3/5s of the slave population towards seats in the House of Representatives was a good thing.

What matters is perception.

They perceive the 3/5s Compromise as evil because they think it means a Black person is 3/5s a person. Explaining how it weakened the hold of Slave owners in the Legislature doesn't matter. They don't care.

The Republicans have a hard time admitting that Slavery, among things like States Rights, were the causes of the Civil War because they perceive Slavery as a millstone around the neck of Conservatives. Because the abusive Liberal spouse has convinced them, gaslit them, into believing it. Into perceiving conservatism having this great shame of Slavery in the USA.

Facts don't sway zealots, and abuse can cause weird things to happen. Gaslighting is a hell of a drug.

I'd agree with that, the perception is heavily skewed, but it really doesn't make sense for the Republican party not to have started stonewalling this very common line of character assassination yet, with something like "The Democrat party formed the Confederate States in order to maintain the right to ownership of slaves."

Instead they just keep tripping and smashing their faces against the same accusation that has been happening for decades.

I'm not saying they could convince dyed blue Democrat voters, but they could at least stop making themselves look so bad with a stock answer repeated ad nauseam.

I agree, they could.

They problem is that they're like an abuse victim over the subject.

That's their job.

That's their part of the Uniparty. Can't win too much, people will wonder why you're not fixing things. Can't win too little, then people will wonder why the other guys aren't fixing things.

Carefully calibrated balance, so they can continue to steal without anybody kicking up too much of a fuss.

A senior Transportation Security Administration official, Assistant Federal Security Director Maxine McManaman, was arrested by US Customs and Border Patrol Agents after arriving in Atlanta's Airport on an International Flight.

She apparently had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from a Florida Sheriffs Office for...

Fox News said:
she and an alleged accomplice named Delroy Chambers Sr. exploited a relative suffering from dementia by falsifying documents in their name, according to Port St. Lucie Police. The Florida authorities allege that the duo forged signatures on a quitclaim deed transferring ownership of a property in the relative's name over to themselves. The relative whose property was transferred to McManaman and Chambers allegedly could not have signed the quitclaim deed, because the individual was found to have been in Atlanta on the date listed, according to police.

She is currently facing a third degree felony charge for forgery.

McManaman joined the TSA in 2002 and actually worked at the Airport she was recently arrested at.

Imagine arresting your boss.

Although to play devil's advocate. it is possible that they were trying to save on legal fees and death taxes, rather than exploiting their demented relative.

TLDR. her salary is 224k / year.
She just passed a law that lets her keep that salary, but if anyone else replaces her then the salary drops to 24k/year
This is meant to discourage people from running against her.

Sometimes you have to do things based on principle alone.
