NHL/Other Hockey Leagues Discussion Thread

All right, given that the 2022-23 NHL Season is upon us, I have to make this thread. Given that I currently reside in a hockey city, I would have to make some comments related to hockey.

This thread will mostly be focused on the National Hockey League, but other hockey leagues will also be discussed here (KHL, other European hockey leagues, Australian Ice Hockey League, etc).

Frighteningly enough, Arizona has a hockey team. Which sucks, plays now in the smallest arena in the entire league (which they're borrowing from ASU), and did I mention that the team utterly sucks?

This is also the team that drafted a guy who was a known bully back when he was in high school.

Like I already said, the Coyotes suck. There are bad NHL teams, then there are the Coyotes, which are in a league of their own in terms of just how big of a trainwreck the entire organization is.

Hey, every league needs their own 'Browns'.
There was a time when the Browns were actually good. There was a time when the Browns were an actual championship caliber team, with excellent coaching, excellent players, and a solid front and back office. There's a reason that the Browns have an actual loyal fanbase.

The Coyotes have none of those things.

The Coyotes are the NHLs *Bengals*.

What about the defending champion Colorado Avalanche?
The Avalanche have a shot, however it's deucedly difficult for a team to repeat the Stanley Cup unless they have multiple once-in-a-generation talent on their roster. They're a great team, but not Gretzy level great.

Darryl Sittler reflects on friend and former teammate Börje Salming's ALS diagnosis

A sad tale concerning the former Toronto Maple Leafs player, but at the very least the former Leafs players like Salming, Sittler, and possibly others, but the one thing that the Leafs had done that was special to Salming was that they fielded an all Swedish line up in their game against the Canucks.

'Börje has come home': Maple Leafs honour Salming with video, ice all-Swedish starting six
Sorry to hear about this.

All the more reason why the Leafs should be more motivated to conquer their worst demons: Getting Past the First Round of Playoffs. For Salming, for Sittler, and heck, for Dave Keon as well.

A question on NHL very early history.
My reading of the wiki points to the "original six" playing one another FOURTEEN times per [regular] season.
Is this correct?
If yes - wasn't that BORING?
