So I figured I'd start this. I'd recommend Outlaw King. Its a fantastic historical tale of Robert the Bruce starting with the failure of the initial Scottish rebellion and the death of William Wallace. Highly accurate with fine attention to detail, well acted with Christopher Pine as Robert the Bruce, Stannis as Edward Ist, and Aaron Taylor Johnson as James Douglas being standout performances. Pretty brutal too, some wrenching scenes of execution. If youve got Netflix check it out.

Aye it was an okay movie though it went a bit silly with the English king engaging in single combat with Robert and Robert the Bruce neither capturing or killing him despite it being easy to do so.

Yeah that's true. That was the one bit that stood out to me. The rest was solid.

History of the World, Part I is a really good Mel Brooks movie. Pretty sure that it is a bit more obscure than his other ones, I'd recommend that anyone who hasn't seen it should definitely watch it.

I will never not recommend The Last Starfighter. Eighties space opera AND it has Robert Preston in it. The soundtrack is fab too.

Dog Soldiers - British squad encounters werewolves while training in Scottish highlands
In The Loop - political comedy about manipulating public opinion and political infighting before invasion of Iraq. Lots of swearing.
Four Lions - comedy about group of muslim terrorists preparing suicide attack in London
Death of Stalin - comedy about power struggle after Stalin's death. Steve Buscemi as Kruschev
Death at the Funeral - very funny comedy about series of mishaps at the funeral
Kraftidioten - black comedy about father seeking vengeance for his murdered son
Hodjegerne - black comedy about corporate headhunter with criminal side job, who finds himself way over his head and has to run for his life.
Heavy Trip - the most obscure Finnish death metal band sets upon playing at metal festival. Even if it kills them.
Okuribito - a touching movie about young man who has to take job at local funeral home when his dreams crash and burn
Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis - incredibly funny movie about post director who gets punishment asignment to most desolate part of France

You, my friend, have excellent taste. Dog soldiers shows a great fight between squaddies and wolves, four lions is darker than dark but absolutely hilarious, and death of stalin is amazing as well.

The Highwaymen

In the Great Depression, when poverty is rampant and violent criminals are folk heroes, a pair of retired Texas Rangers are locked in a dead heat with the FBI in the race to catch up with Bonnie and Clyde. It's easily the best movie I have seen in years.

A Japanese film called Sword of Desperation in the translation about a famously skilled Samurai swordsman who is compelled to a cruel act to defend the honour of the house he serves, which enrages the Lord of the House, who wants to kill his loyal servant for it despite it being in his best interests. His Vizier instead plans to use the Samurai as an instrument of the destruction of their enemies.

Things go as planned, and they also do not go as planned.

The aesthetics of the movie are impossibly beautiful, the choreography excellent in every respect.
