Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
They're mad?
Korean company Samsung makes thier stuff in Vietnam. Most japan stuff is not moving out of China. The thing is, there are many options other than China available. There's the investment they already have in the factories there, sure, but at this point, letting that keep them there is a sunk-cost fallacy.
I got Tenp banned for saying china is hiding numbers (got me thread banned) and the temp ban was for saying Wuhan Flu was not racsist. I even made sure not to say it! Said I was going against Mod banner.Shame, I don't wanna give up on this. I even tried to file a appeal before as I said offering to just get permabanned from the debate hall and get it done with but I forgot to follow the appeal form and was just rejected out of principle apparently. It really is just insane how the echo chamber mentality works. I just felt like I was slowly going insane. NO ONE seemed to even acknowledge what I was saying at time. Not disagreements, not arguing against it, flat out denial I had said anything unless it was in line with what they thought already. It was... eerie. Even on reddit when I say controversial stuff people will challenge me on it. Not on SB, they just ignored it and moved on to the next topic.
That and Bad Orange Man hates China, therefore China must be good.I've realized these Commie sympathising bastards don't truly care about chinese people , if they really cared they wouldn't be supporting the Chinese Communist Government oppressing their citizens .
I would not believe a word Deadly Snark says about having been "stalked" by white people. For one thing, I'm pretty sure he's a Chinese citizen living in China; if anyone's going to be racist in their country, it's going to be them. And the Chinese are massive racists, greatest in the world probably (due mostly to the fact that not only is there no condemnation against being racist towards non-Chinese in their culture, but also because the CCP encourages racism as a way to blame scapegoats for their failures); and like all racists these days, they've learned that calling other people racist is an easy way to deflect scrutiny.I mean, someone suggested that we should both stop because it's clogging up the thread that is about the coronavirus, so fine. I was typing up a response and decided to stop because of it. I'd further point out that I do generally agree with Snark that Western media reporting on China is not great and fairly hysteria-laden, though that's more because the media is bad at its job as opposed to ludicrous claims which epitomize horseshoe theory.
One thing that I do think should be taken away from this is that it is true that I don't know as much about China as much as Snark knows about the West, thanks to the cultural power of the West. In general, the Chinese know more about the West than we do about China, which makes it harder to argue on their terms. Snark can claim that the US is a monolith when it comes to foreign policy and this is uniquely bad, and yet not have to answer questions about whether it's the same in China because Westerners don't know much about China's foreign policy. I would suspect that there is a monolith or a consensus because people generally don't care about foreign policy which lets it be dominated by fewer voices, but I don't know. It is more important that we learn more about China in general, because you have to know your adversaries to understand how to counter them.
I also think that it's interesting thinking about racism in context of our different views. Snark is a Chinese person who in previous arguments talked about how he was stalked by white people, and says he's part of a Discord filled with East Asians scared for their lives from racism due to this pandemic. I'm a Japanese-American who hasn't encountered any new racism from this, and finds the idea that we should be scared from this to be absolutely ludicrous. Frankly, that Discord is probably the same as various Asian subreddits I've heard of that become viciously racist in their own right.
Them being able to point at the opium wars and century of shame sure doesn't help.I would not believe a word Deadly Snark says about having been "stalked" by white people. Never forget that the Chinese have been told from birth that the west is the cause of all their problems, by a government that punishes disloyalty severely.
And at the rate their going, they’re just as likely as not to suffer some sort of repeat.Them being able to point at the opium wars and century of shame sure doesn't help.
What about before that? The Manchus clearly forced them to wear a different hairstyle or lose their heads.Them being able to point at the opium wars and century of shame sure doesn't help.
Snark says it happened in Canada, and I'm the kind of person who is inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. I generally don't like assuming that the people I'm talking to are lying unless I can definitely prove otherwise. I don't really think it excuses things much more than we don't excuse someone who got mugged by a black guy deciding that all black people are criminals and thugs, and there are legitimate points about how the Western media makes mistakes on China. Snark just thinks that it's all a conspiracy while I think it's more incompetence.I would not believe a word Deadly Snark says about having been "stalked" by white people. Government doesn't have much to do with it, really. There is a strong argument that if China actually became a true Western-style democracy, that China would quickly devolve into showing the left what real fascist nationalism looks like. The CCP has to get in front of such things just like Orwell in "Shooting an Elephant."Don't let his long ass posts talking about "white, grey and black" propaganda fool you at all. This is all about defending the CCP, not about defending chinese people. The entire time he was taking your arguments and moving them, pivoting the point so he could push his "americans are attacking china for no reason out of racism and fear" without addressing the point that the CCP deserves to get fucked. The people of China deserve a better government than that before they brainwash all main-lander chinese into sociopath party sycophants.
You know when you are out an about and you on occasion will run into an old person who is well a conspiracy spouting fool. Yeah they started out like the SB Shill crowd when they were young. That and Bad Orange Man hates China, therefore China must be good.
Could you elaborate? Because I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say here.Government doesn't have much to do with it, really. For all the cries that the CCP deserve to be attacked, there are reasons to believe that a democratic China would be an even worse actor on the global stage, and that China's current leaders have to try to temper the nationalistic impulses of the average Han. The Senkaku Islands protest are one example of this, where China's leaders basically had to arrest nationalistic protestors who were attacking Japanese businesses.Could you elaborate? Because I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say here.
China's current leaders don't "temper" the nationalistic impulses of the Chinese people; they stoke them. As they have done since the CCP took control of the country; because fanatics are easier to manipulate than sane individuals. The only reason they cracked down on the Senkaku Islands protests, is because they got out of the CCP's control; and the government is constantly afraid of losing control of the beast they've raised. For all the cries that the CCP deserve to be attacked, there are reasons to believe that a democratic China would be an even worse actor on the global stage, and that China's current leaders have to try to temper the nationalistic impulses of the average Han. Probably with Sun. Chiang can be quite a dick to purge your ass if you're a commie.Any chance of China being a decent democracy died when Mao kicked Chian Kai-Shek from the mainland. Maybe it died with Sun Yat-Sen.
